| Position Summary |
The Administrative Support Specialist position serves within the
CIDD (Center for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) clinic, providing multifaceted support across critical areas such as front office operations, clinical activities, billing, and client relations. The position is responsible for billing and collection of client accounts within the guidelines of
UNC Faculty Physicians to increase the administrative efficiency and fiscal productivity of the clinic. The employee will serve as the billing and collection administrator and contact patients, third party payers and insurance carriers for the purpose of obtaining pre-authorization, explaining charges and correcting erroneous charges. The individual will manage administrative workflows and processes that ensure the smooth operation of the clinic. This includes overseeing clinic scheduling, patient check-in/check-out, insurance verification, and billing processes, as well as leading efforts to improve clinic efficiency and compliance with
UNC,
HIPAA, and insurance regulations.
This position involves independent judgment, identifying and resolving administrative issues, and the ability to recommend process improvements. The role involves collaborating with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders, as well as managing clinic resources. The position utilizes strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. |
| Management Preferences |
- Previous experience and training with HIPAA compliance in a workspace setting is highly desired.
- Experience using electronic systems for patient registration, scheduling, and records (EPIC) also highly desired.
