Description

The Town of Needham is seeking passionate individuals to fill the part-time position of Library Page at the Needham Free Public Library. Reporting to the Library Children's Supervisor, the Library Page will assists in shelving books, magazines, and other library materials as well as keep shelves in order, retrieving requested materials for patrons as needed.

It is an exciting time to join the Needham Free Public Library team! Our Strategic Plan for FY2023-2027 positions the library to continue to meet the community's needs for years to come. In addition, our recent Library Space Utilization Study reimagines the library's interior space in four phases to enhance the work we do for our patrons and the community. Along with diverse collections, plentiful programming, and great services, the Needham Free Public Library is on track to be the go-to place for new and current library workers.

Work Schedule:

  • Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays: 3 PM-6PM
  • Saturdays: 9 AM-1 PM

Duties and Responsibilities

These duties are a general summary and not all inclusive:

  • Shelve library materials such as books and audio visual materials.
  • Retrieve items from shelves using lists or reports.
  • Empty book drop materials returned to the library from the outside and inside of the building.
  • Pack bins with library materials to go in deliveries.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of alpha-numeric order to shelve books throughout the library.
  • General knowledge of standard office procedures, practices, forms, and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Skill in interpersonal and customer service.

Physical Demands:

  • Regular lifting of books and related library materials, frequent moving of heavy books carts of roughly 150-200 pounds.
