Position Summary

The Energy Accounting Analyst is responsible for analyzing, calculating, maintaining, and confirming control area data resulting from transmission reservations, energy scheduling, generation control and dispatch, and other activities of the Control Area.

The Senior Energy Accounting Analyst is responsible for leading processes, working with other internal business groups, analyzing, calculating, maintaining, and confirming control area data resulting from transmission reservations, energy scheduling, generation control and dispatch, and other activities of the Control Area.

Responsibilities
  • Confirms monthly control area data with other control areas, transmission providers, independent power producers, RTOs such as PJM and the ISO and Marketers in the interconnected network.

  • Calculates, evaluates, confirms and maintains accurate records of transmission transactions between the company, other interconnected companies, and energy marketers, as a basis for corporate billing and satisfying state and federal regulatory requirements

  • Calculates loads for Wholesale NTS Customers and Certified Retail Electric Suppliers in the Customer Choice Program

  • Oversees the provision of billing data to corporate internal accounting, the Midwest ISO and PJM RTO, including the provision of hourly generation and load data for each generator and Network load in the control Area, and for MISO and PJM Energy Market Settlements

  • Prepares and submits various reports to internal and external entities, such as the FERC 714, NERC Inadvertent reporting, as well as on an as-needed basis, and must be familiar with appropriate regulatory requirements, such as Sarbanes Oxley

  • Monitors Control Area Accounting processes, identifies opportunities for improvement, and helps to develop and implement resulting business or system enhancements

  • Proficient in the use of various software applications (Windows environment) in the daily execution of duties

  • Coordinates work as necessary with other internal departments and external customers

  • Understands how the work and issues impact other work groups and takes ownership of work and issues until resolved

  • Proficient in managingprocesses and projects

  • Must accommodate a flexible work schedule

Basic/Required Qualification

Note: This posting is for one open position. Dependent on relative experience, the level to which a candidate is aligned is outlined below.

Energy Accounting Analyst

  • Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years of minimum related work experience, OR

  • Associate's degree AND four (4) years minimum related work experience, OR

  • High school diploma/GED AND six (6) years minimum related work experience

Senior Energy Accounting Analyst

  • Bachelor's degree AND four (4) years minimum related work experience, OR

  • Associate's degree AND six (6) years minimum related work experience, OR

  • High school diploma/GED AND eight (8) years minimum related work experience

Additional Desired Qualifications
  • Proven ability to use computer-based programs such as Excel

  • Possesses experience in accounting

  • Previous experience in transmission operations or generation dispatch area

  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of various computer programs

Working Conditions
  • Hybrid Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility
