We're hiring a Marketing Intern to join County Materials in Marathon City, Wisconsin.

Job Summary:

The Marketing Internship is a flexible, rotational role designed to support the Marketing and Communications team while providing meaningful, hands-on professional development for a student or early-career individual. This internship offers exposure to a wide range of marketing functions including digital marketing, content creation, brand development, communications, and events through structured job shadowing, mentoring, and guided project support.

This role serves a dual purpose: helping interns build foundational marketing knowledge and transferable professional skills while supporting administrative and project-based activities that enhance overall team efficiency. Interns will observe planning meetings, creative reviews, and campaign discussions to gain insight into how marketing strategies are developed, executed, and measured.

Designed as a floating, cross-channel position, the internship allows collaboration with multiple Marketing Channel Leads and provides visibility into diverse workflows and potential marketing career paths.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities


  • Shadow members of the Marketing and Communications team to gain exposure to digital marketing, content development, brand, and event-based marketing.
  • Observe planning meetings, creative reviews, and campaign discussions to learn how marketing strategies are developed and implemented.
  • Learn foundational marketing terminology, workflows, and professional office practices.
  • Assist with drafting simple content such as short social media captions, internal posts, or basic copy under supervision.
  • Help organize, review, and catalog marketing assets including photos, videos, logos, and documents.
  • Support project implementation tasks under guidance, aligned with team priorities.


Secondary Responsibilities


  • Support copy editing and proofreading of internal or external marketing materials for grammar, spelling, and clarity.
  • Assist with scheduling or organizing social media content (no independent posting without approval).
  • Help capture photos or short video clips for internal communications or social media use.
  • Support basic video editing or content clipping tasks, depending on skill level.
  • Observe how digital marketing campaigns are tracked and measured.
  • Conduct basic marketing research, such as:
  • Reviewing competitor websites or social media accounts
  • Gathering examples of marketing campaigns or event promotions
  • Organizing marketing databases, spreadsheets, or project folders
  • Assisting with tracking simple campaign metrics or organizing performance data
  • Perform general administrative support tasks, including:
  • File organization and data entry
  • Updating contact lists or asset inventories

Experience & Qualifications: (Required or Preferred)

Education

Currently enrolled in high school or college, preferably pursuing coursework in marketing, communications, business, journalism, or a related field.

Experience, Skills & Abilities


  • Demonstrated interest in marketing, communications, or related fields, with a strong willingness to learn.
  • Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with common office and digital tools, including:

    • Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
    • Shared file platforms such as SharePoint or OneDrive
    • Basic use of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) for observation and assisted scheduling
    • Introductory understanding of marketing project tracking tools (calendars, spreadsheets, task boards)
    • Knowledge of Mac operating systems

  • Strong written communication skills with attention to spelling, grammar, and clarity.
  • Proactive, organized, self-motivated team player with a positive attitude.
  • Previous school projects, volunteer work, or part-time experience related to marketing or communications is a plus, but not required.


Work Environment:


  • Work is typically performed in an indoor office environment; hybrid arrangements may be considered as necessary.
  • On-location assignments, including events or photoshoots, may occur in outdoor environments.
  • Exposure may include noise, weather conditions, and machinery.
  • Travel required: Minimal and project-based; day trips only.
  • Typical schedule: 20-30 hours per week within standard business hours, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM.
