The Carpenter Technology Corporation "Hartsville Operations" located in McBee, South Carolina, is a mini-mill supplying a variety of sizes and specifications of high-quality round, square and hexagonal stainless-steel bars for distribution. Carpenter Technology acquired Talley Metals in 1997 to increase manufacturing capacity within the corporation's core Specialty Alloys Operations division.

Supervisor Manufacturing

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE SUPERVISOR MANUFACTURING:

  • Provide production employees with guidance,directionand supervision in support of departmental operations. Provide team leads and production employees with guidance,directionand supervision in support of department and facility operations, specifically in Safety, Quality, Delivery, People and Cost.
  • Promptly address performance issues.
  • Actively promote all company policies and expectations, especially in support of safety plans and results.
  • Plan and schedule operations within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain a positive work environment by regularly communicating with employees on the shop floor and responding to employee issues and concernsin a timely manner.
  • Plan and schedule operations within assigned areas of responsibility including review and approval of personnel schedules, reports, logs,purchasingand repairs. Develop production plans including load sheets,scrap, routers, Axiom, reports,dashboardsand work orders. Responsible for NCR, CAR,SOPand cost/efficiency projects including capital budgets and manufacturing improvements.
  • Responsible for interfacing with other functions (Sales, MRP, Manufacturing to achieve department and company goals andobjectives. This position is accountable for the daily and weekly performance of Safety, Quality, Delivery,Peopleand Cost.
  • Maintain well-organized and productive work areas.
  • Work with others to achieve department and company goals andobjectives.
  • Perform all other duties and specialprojects asassigned.

REQUIRED FOR THE SUPERVISOR MANUFACTURING

  • Two-year or four- yearcollege degree is preferred. High school diplomarequired.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing/operational environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office including Outlook,Wordand Excel.
  • Prior experience with improving efficiency and operationalobjectives.
  • Practical understanding of industrial/manufacturing principles, standards, methods, and practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications, problem solving and project management skills with the ability to organize and prioritize tasks and makeappropriate decisions.
  • Experience directing and supervising others, objectively evaluatingperformance,traininganddevelopothersandusepositive employee-relations practices.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, influenceothers.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects and teams, including coordination of resources outside or area of responsibility. Analytical and problem-solving skills.Willingness to work in a fast-paced,demandingand ever-changing environment withfrequentlychanging priorities.
