Department Summary

The Mathematics department at UNT is a comprehensive doctoral degree-granting department with 22tenure-track and tenured faculty members, 19 lecturers and adjuncts, and 55 graduate students. Tenured and tenure-track faculty members pursue research in mathematics. Many are internationally renowned in their areas of expertise. Mathematics department instructors teach graduate students, math majors, science and engineering majors, specialized service math classes for students in business and education, and university core math classes required for all UNT students. At every level, mathematics department members are dedicated to providing their students with effective, high-quality instruction.

Position Overview

The Department of Mathematics seeks qualified individuals for Its Adjunct Instructor Pool and welcomes applicants at any time. This posting Is for the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 semesters. The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs.

The anticipated need Is for Adjunct Instructors whose duties may include, but are not limited to teaching generally lower-division mathematics courses such as: algebra, business math, business calculus, calculus, survey of mathematics, elementary statistics, linear algebra, and differential equations. Prospective adjuncts must be available to teach in-person on the UNT Denton campus.

Adjuncts teach 1-4 classes per semester and are expected to hold office hours per departmental policy.

Minimum Qualifications

For developmental mathematics courses candidates should have a bachelor's degree in mathematics.

For credit-bearing courses candidates should have a master's degree in mathematics, statistics, or related field including 18 graduate semester credit hours in mathematics (MATH) or statistics (STAT) prefixed courses.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in mathematics or closely related field
Experience with online learning platforms such as: Canvas, MyLabsMath, Webassign, ALEKS
Experience supervising teaching assistants
Experience teaching mathematics classes with over 100 students
Available to teach early morning and late evening

Required License/Registration/Certifications
