About the Role

Culmen International is hiring a Director of Human Resources in Alexandria, VA.



What You'll Do in Your New Role

    Responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to the Human Resources department. Partner with leadership to initiate, implement, and maintain programs and policies related to talent management, compensation/payroll, employment processing, health and welfare benefits, performance management, learning and development, employee relations, HRIS (records management), workforce planning, metrics, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, labor relations and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the implementation of HR programs, policies, procedures and practices that focus on attracting, retaining and developing the employee base. This leadership role carries with it personal and corporate responsibility to build and sustain a respectful workplace by communicating and enforcing organization values.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; managing affirmative action program, advising management on needed actions.
  • Support the long-range vision towards digitalization; maximize HR systems and technology that align with the growth of the organization and delivery models.
  • Foster and manage strategic partnerships with HR vendors and consultants who provide HR services and expertise.
  • Develop and manage an annual budget for the department and manage expenses within established guidelines
  • All other duties assigned


Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, with demonstrated expertise across core HR functions, including talent management, compensation and payroll, employment processing, benefits administration, performance management, learning and development, employee relations, HRIS and records management, workforce planning, HR metrics, safety and health, succession planning, retention strategies, AA/EEO compliance, labor relations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience supporting a global workforce, including employees outside the United States.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven HR leadership and management capabilities, including the ability to anticipate organizational needs, design and implement effective solutions, and oversee complex employee relations matters.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess complex or atypical issues and deliver solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams and collaborate effectively across cross-functional organizations.
  • High level of initiative and adaptability, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development through participation in conferences, professional organizations, industry publications, and ongoing education.
  • Specialized skills in conflict resolution, negotiation, influencing, executive presentations, coaching, and counseling.
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms (UKG Pro preferred).
  • Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions.
  • Experience supporting CMMI and ISSO certification efforts.


Desired Qualifications

  • Government contracting experience in an HR leadership role strongly preferred.
  • Master's Degree in Human Resources, Business or related
  • Ability to obtain a clearance; this will require US Citizenship
