The Account Specialist I is responsible for working with Account Executives to administratively support current business, and to successfully set-up new business, for BCBSNE. Account Specialists independently support and resolve escalated problems with clients, provide proactive communication, and partner with group and/or broker contacts to meet business objectives and goals.

Candidates applying to this position must live within driving distance of the Omaha, Nebraska metro. This position allows remote flexibility but will have occasional visits to the office.

What you'll do:

  • Responsible for maintaining strong ongoing relationships with existing client groups by providing reliable service, supporting profitability and retention, and promoting BCBS services, capabilities, technology, and products

  • Collaborate with peers across BCBSNE on a regular basis to establish best practices, create consistency where appropriate, resolve escalated administrative issues, and accomplish overall business goals and objectives.

  • Responsible for ensuring proper set-up and servicing of new and existing business within BCBSNE customer base via the review of services, capabilities, technology, and promotion of new products/services.

  • Conduct routine service calls and function as an administrative group contract. Support clients during contract renewal, new sales, and throughout the relationship by advocating for escalated service issues in a timely and professional manner, taking responsibility for customer satisfaction and loyalty.

  • Provide market trend data, as represented by our clients, and partner to solve unique business challenges.

  • Proactively connect with groups/brokers to educate on the value of Blue.

  • Continuously stay current on BCBSNE products to include medical, pharmacy, and additional outside programs with partnership vendors.

  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for enrollment and eExchange, provide education and training as needed.

  • Set-up reoccurring meetings to best support the Account Executives and customer contacts. This may include assisting with open-enrollment, health fairs, and providing information or swag items to group leaders.

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Two (2) years of health industry experience

  • Solid understanding of benefit administration in the health care industry

  • The ability to manage customer expectations and build internal and external relationships

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement. The ability to meet or exceed the attendance and timeliness requirements of their departments.

The ability to work well in a team environment and be capable of building and maintaining positive relationships with other staff, departments, and customers.

The strongest candidates for this position will also possess:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field of study

  • Experience in Group/Account Service or Customer Service, within the healthcare insurance industry

  • Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare reform mandates, and how they apply to our products
