POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports plant operations and does general labor work. Helps with loading and bag trucks and fills in where needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

  • Perform general plant labor in all operational areas of the plant.

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge or ability to learn the hydrator and hydrator related systems, and the ability to perform all responsibilities of a hydrator operator when needed.

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge or ability to learn the slurry and slurry related systems, and the ability to perform all responsibilities of an slurry operator when needed.

  • Clean bins, conveyers, spills, material from under conveyers and catwalks, and other cleaning duties as assigned.

  • Continuously observe, monitor, and report any condition that could lead to equipment failure or a safety hazard.

  • Ability to operate heavy equipment including vacuum truck, bobcat, loader, man lift, forklift, water truck, and tractor in a safe manner.

  • Assist maintenance in preventative care and minor repairs of equipment used.

  • Assist in outage work, as needed.

  • Learn various entry level positions and cross train in other areas of the plant as needed, for example the Warehouse position.

  • Responsible for completing equipment and work area inspections.

  • Must comply with all company, state, federal, and governmental regulations, policies, and procedures relating to environmental, health, and safety.

  • Report any potential operational or safety problems to management.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

ATTRIBUTES:

  • Industrial background with good troubleshooting skills.

  • Knowledgeable of current environmental regulations and practices as they relate to the lime industry.

  • Previous experience operating heavy equipment is desired.

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and reading is required.

  • Must be able to work shift work, seven days a week including holidays and be flexible to schedule changes, including overtime.

  • Must have a telephone and be open to call-outs.

  • Effectively communicate and interact with supervisors, managers, customers and peers.

  • Demonstrate the ability to operate a computer is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Must be physically able to perform work assigned.

  • Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations.

  • Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 150 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.

  • Will be working at times in covered environment but mainly in a lime/mineral environment.

  • The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Lime/Mineral Particles.

  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.

  • Ability to lift/carry 50 pounds.

Safe Quality Food (SQF):

  • Ensure a SQF workplace and in regulatory compliance with Federal FDA - Food Modernization Safety Act (CFR Code of Federal Regulations Title 21, , Part 507)

  • Support Environmental Health and Safety, as well as SQF initiatives and awareness programs.

  • Be a leader and promoter of employee safety and SQF culture.

  • Ensure employees have a clear understanding of expected safety and SQF performance and the required training.

  • Ensure proper training programs are implemented for new employees and continued for existing employees.

  • Actively participate in audits for regulatory, safety, SQF and environmental compliance at the site.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED.

PREFFERED EXPERIENCE: Previous labor experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is preferred.

Hourly Rate: $28.45
