Incumbent decontaminates, operationally checks, assembles, and distributes surgical instrumentation, implants, supplies, and equipment for the OR, Nursing Units, and Ancillary Departments. Incumbent maintains documentation related to these duties. Incumbent operates and maintains sterilization equipment, decontamination equipment, and computer systems related to these duties. This position requires the flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
Required Qualifications
High School graduate, G.E.D. or equivalentCompletion of an SPD certification training program from a recognized institutionGeneral ability to operate machinery including sterilizers, washers and ultrasonic cleanersThe flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locationsGood communication and customer service skillsBasic knowledge of computer systems including Windows OS, keyboard and mouse operationBasic knowledge of medical terminologyKnowledge of standard precautions for safety and prevention of cross contaminationThe ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writingThe ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to communicate with nursing, technical,and medical staffAbility to safely move heavy trays and equipment, lifting up to 50 pounds, and stand for prolongedperiods of time
