Job Description:

Airbus Americas, Inc is looking for a Aircraft Conformity Manager to join our team based in Mobile, AL.

The Aircraft Conformity Manager is responsible for evaluating the technical and configuration status of aircraft to ensure the "As-Built" status aligns with the "Target Configuration". This role involves accepting aircraft at key production milestones, including FAL Operational Test Meetings, Handover, and Technical Acceptance Completion. Key duties include preparing and signing critical conformity documentation that enables the issuance of EASA Form 20b (Permit to Fly), EASA Form 52 (Statement of Conformity), and EASA Form 53 (Certificate of Release to Service).

Your Working Environment:

On 'Airbus Way' you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility, which strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry, is part of Airbus' strategy to enhance its global competitiveness by meeting the growing needs of its customers in the United States and beyond.

Your Challenges:

Aircraft Conformity Duties (80%)

  • Regulatory Compliance: Guarantee that all departments involved in production and the Customer Line phase comply with EASA PART 21G rules and Production Organization Approval (POA) regulations.

  • Milestone Approval: Review technical and configuration status to authorize Airbus Logbook opening at the Final Assembly Line Operational Test (FOT) meeting and approve Technical Acceptance Completion (TAC).

  • Flight Readiness: Evaluate aircraft status to guarantee safety for first engine runs and first flights.

  • Documentation: Establish EASA Form 20b (Permit to Fly) and EASA Form 52 (Aircraft Statement of Conformity).

  • Airworthiness: Establish and sign the Airworthiness Directive Compliance List and ensure the aircraft fully conforms to the Type Design Certificate for safe operation at delivery.

  • Maintenance & Support: Establish Airbus Delivery Center Work Orders for post-Form 52 maintenance and ensure these activities meet EASA Part 21 requirements.

  • Customer Liaison: Demonstrate aircraft conformity to customers and importing Airworthiness Authorities.

Operational Support & Administration (20%)

  • Training: Train new hire Aircraft Conformity Managers.

  • Auditing: Participate in operational meetings and contribute to internal and external audits.

  • Administrative Tasks: Archive internal conformity documents and apply for Export Certificates of Airworthiness.

Your Boarding Pass:

  • Aircraft technical background with knowledge of Airbus manufacturing or maintenance processes.

  • Minimum 12 months in an Airbus environment or equivalent experience in a production/maintenance organization.

  • Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of Aeronautical Regulations (EASA/FAA), Configuration Management, and Airworthiness basics.

  • Systems: Proficiency in SAP, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.

  • Decision Making: Ability to make independent, sound decisions under pressure without compromising safety or integrity.

  • Communication: Fluent in English (read, write, speak) with the ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, external customers, and authorities.

Preferred:

  • Technical school or college degree (2-4 years) specializing in aviation.

  • 3+ years in aviation design, production, quality, or maintenance; experience with Airbus Quality or Engineering departments.

  • FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant License.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Onsite Requirement: 100% onsite in Mobile, AL.

    Physical Demands: Must be able to walk production floors (including uneven surfaces), lift/carry up to 30 lbs, and stand/sit for extended periods.

  • Availability: Must be available for flexible hours, off-shifts, and short-notice domestic or international travel (approx. 5%).

  • Safety: Steel-toed shoes and site-specific PPE (glasses, hearing protection, etc.) are required for shop floor visits.
