POSITION DESCRIPTION

Perkins Coie is searching for a Senior Legal Project Manager (Senior LPM) to join its growing Legal Project Management (LPM) team. The LPM team cultivates high performance anchored by integrity and empathy and is motivated to foster growth, empower others, and strengthen client delivery.

The Senior Legal Project Manager position will have a key role supporting some of the firm's largest clients and matters, as well as strategic programs. This position supports engagements to ensure successful implementation of such projects. This position will affect efficiency, quality, profitability, competitive position, and client value and satisfaction. This position will interact with legal and business professionals internally and externally and is expected to uphold the image of the Firm by maintaining positive contact with clients, attorneys, and staff.

This position reports to a member of the LPM management team. Senior LPMs are aligned with Firm and client strategy and play an important role in furthering the Firm's advanced and innovative approach to the delivery of legal services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

These essential functions are primary job duties that candidates must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation.

  • Assist client engagement or legal teams and practice groups with the delivery of legal services for complex, high-profile client engagements employing project management methods and tools.
  • Provide training and consultation for LPM team on portfolio and matter budgeting, financial data analysis and technology.
  • Work closely with LPM Management to continuously improve and enhance the LPM team support and offerings provided to attorneys and clients, as well as develop training content and provide legal teams and clients LPM training.
  • Provide project management oversight, principles, methodologies, and tools as defined by legal teams and practice groups for internal and client-facing projects with limited complexity.
  • Manage assigned projects and associated activities to ensure resources are channeled to produce planned deliverables on time and within scope and budget.
  • Organize project teams into work groups and work closely with relationship attorneys to support and guide the project team in its effort to achieve business goals and produce deliverables within the specified time frames and on budget.
  • Monitor the project scope management process to ensure key stakeholders are apprised of scope change requests and impact to project.
  • Collaborate with team resources to plan for custom solutions and oversee the design, planning for and implementation of client-facing technical or process solutions.
  • Follow policies, procedures and documentation created for the LPM department.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Superior analytical skills and strong financial capabilities.
  • Experience with database tools and financial information reporting tools.
  • Computer proficient with advanced skills in MS Office required.
  • Capacity to learn new technology, tools, and platforms.
  • Aptitude to make difficult and complex independent decisions.
  • Demonstrate a keen eye for accuracy and precision in all tasks.
  • Consistently deliver high-quality work by thoroughly reviewing and verifying information. Ensure all aspects of projects are meticulously executed to meet or exceed expectations.
  • Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills, including recordkeeping, data collection and system information.
  • Ability to compile and analyze data, and furnish concise, detailed information in written report format.
  • Excellent facilitation skills to lead meetings, conduct effective briefings and presentations, and to develop consensus, both internally and externally.
  • Strong ability to lead, think creatively, proactively adapt to a changing environment, act decisively, and motivate, develop, inspire and empower others.
  • Ability to plan, organize, direct, implement and evaluate processes to lead people and manage resources to achieve desired results.
  • Aptitude to create an open environment conducive to freely sharing information and ideas.
  • Capability to use many software programs to produce professional documents and prepare presentation media audiences.

SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED

  • SharePoint, Visio, and MS Project knowledge
  • SQL & Microsoft SharePoint experience
  • Ability to apply theoretical and logical approach to problem-solving
  • Highly numerate
  • Methodical and meticulous approach to work

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years in a law firm, or experience in a similar role at either a professional services company or in a legal environment.
  • Minimum 5 years formal project management experience preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • PMP, JD or MBA preferred.
  • Solid understanding of project estimation and management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle.
  • At least 3 years financial professional experience.
  • Experience working with and leading multidisciplinary teams.

This position may be filled in the following location(s).The listed compensation range reflects the typical pay for this role, though it is rare for new hires to receive an offer at the top of the range.Actual compensation may vary depending on experience, skills, market conditions, and internal equity.

Illinois Compensation Range: $166,870.00 to $266,830.00 annually

Colorado Compensation Range: $ 158,120.00 to $252,830.00 annually

Los Angeles Compensation Range: $184,140.00 to $294,860.00 annually

New York Compensation Range: $184,740.00 to 293,370.00 annually

Oregon Compensation Range: $160,120.00 to $256,030.00 annually

San Franciso Compensation Range: $201,820.00 to $322,710.00 annually

San Diego Compensation Range: $181,800.00 to $290,700.00 annually

Washington State Compensation Range: $166,790.00 to $266,700.00 annually

Washington,D.C.compensation range: $180,130 to $288,040 annually
