Job Summary


The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes, equipment, and production flow to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency. This role leads continuous improvement initiatives, supports new product development, and drives cost reduction efforts using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. The Manufacturing Engineer collaborates cross-functionally to enhance production capabilities, resolve complex issues, and implement innovative solutions that improve overall operational performance.

Job Responsibilities



  • Design and optimize manufacturing cells and production flow lines with a focus on safety, ergonomics, quality, and efficiency
  • Develop and maintain standardized work, including balance charts, layouts, and process documentation
  • Lead research and development of new manufacturing processes to support current and future products
  • Identify safety risks, support hazard remediation, and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste and improve performance
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to address quality and production issues
  • Support new product development by ensuring design for manufacturability and participating in engineering reviews
  • Lead and contribute to cross-functional projects, including planning, budgeting, and execution of project deliverables
  • Coordinate with production, quality, maintenance, engineering, and external vendors to achieve project goals
  • Implement and sustain change management initiatives to support process and product improvements
  • Evaluate and select capital equipment and develop capital appropriation requests
  • Utilize advanced technologies and systems to improve manufacturing efficiency and data flow
  • Establish visual controls and performance metrics to monitor process health and drive accountability
  • Lead or support manufacturing assessments and continuous improvement events


Job Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and general computer applications
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, production environments, and safety standards
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing principles such as value stream mapping, 5S, and standard work
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and apply problem-solving methodologies
  • Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities


Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required
  • Advanced degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred


Work Experience



  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing engineering
  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives preferred
