Job Summary

A versatile, operations-focused role designed to support day-to-day continuity across Catering operations. This position is scheduled to absorb staffing variability, provide coverage during call-offs or high-volume days, and support events and deliveries as operationally required.

This role flexes across preparation, delivery, and on-site event support to ensure service standards, timelines, and guest experience are maintained.

Performs a variety of routine and non-routine tasks within the Nutrition Services Department using established practices and procedures. Acts as a peer guide to Associate Tech's within your area of responsibility. May be called upon to make decisions to ensure compliance with safety and quality initiatives.

Essential Functions

Operational Coverage & Flex Support

  • Provide scheduled and day-of coverage for staffing gaps due to call-offs, PTO, red-staffing conditions, or volume surges

  • Flex between catering prep, packing, delivery, and event support based on daily operational need

  • Step into Tech Driver duties when delivery demand or route coverage requires under the direction of the Grand Rapids Lead or FOH Lead

  • Support event setup, service, and breakdown under the direction of the Events Lead or FOH Lead

  • Support kitchen production service and breakdown under the direction of the Chef Lead or BOH Lead

Catering Prep & Production Support

  • Assist with food preparation tasks such as washing, chopping, assembling, and portioning items according to standard recipes

  • Support packing, labeling, and staging of catering orders to ensure accuracy and timeliness

Delivery & Logistics Execution

  • Deliver catering orders safely, accurately, and on schedule to Corewell Health locations

  • Verify orders against packing lists prior to departure

  • Load, unload, and transport food and equipment using established safety and handling standards

  • Communicate clearly with catering leadership regarding delivery status or issues

Event & Guest Experience Support

  • Assist with room setup, resets, and service transitions for onsite events

  • Support beverage service, buffet maintenance, and light guest-facing interaction as assigned

  • Represent Corewell Health Catering professionally during all events and deliveries

  • Escalate guest concerns or operational issues appropriately rather than attempting unsafe or unauthorized fixes

  • Follow established food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards at all times

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Food Service preferably in health care or related field

  • Must have excellent driving record

  • CRT-Accredited Food Handler - ANSI National Accreditation Board ANSI 90 Days AND

  • CRT-Accredited Food Allergy Certificate - ANSI National Accreditation Board 90 Days OR

  • CRT-Accredited Food Protection Manager, CFP - ANSI National Accreditation Board 90 Days

  • LIC-Driver's License - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire

Preferred

  • Associate's Degree Hospitality or Nutrition
