Accountant - Consultant Birmingham, AL (Hybrid) A growing technology-focused company in Birmingham is seeking an Accounting Consultant to support its finance team during a period of growth and process improvement. This role will play a key part in maintaining accurate financials, supporting the close process, and helping enhance overall accounting operations. This is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on accounting work with broad exposure across the full cycle in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities Prepare journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations Support and help drive the month-end close and financial reporting process Perform variance analysis and assist with ad hoc reporting needs Review and improve accounting processes and internal controls Assist with audit support, including preparation of schedules and documentation Oversee or support AP/AR activities, including billing, collections, and issue resolution Partner cross-functionally to improve workflows and reporting accuracy Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance 5+ years of accounting experience (public or corporate) Strong background in general ledger accounting and month-end close Experience working with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills Exposure to AP/AR processes and process improvement initiatives Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills This is an immediate need for a consultant who can step in quickly, contribute to day-to-day accounting, and help strengthen processes as the organization continues to scale.
