The Dietitian II Registered, working under moderate supervision, helps provide medical nutrition therapy to patients with acute or chronic diseases/health issues including obesity, diabetes, and other weight or nutrition management conditions. This role helps serve pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics patient age categories. The position also requires provision of nutrition care in an area of specialization. Essential Job Function: Completes nutritional assessments and documents results using the Nutrition Care Process. Utilizes the principles of the Nutrition Focused Physical Exam to identify malnutrition and/or micronutrient deficiencies. Utilizes order-writing privileges to include initiating and managing nutrition support. Serves as a nutrition resource to departmental and organizational staff, precept dietetic interns and nutrition students. Mentors Registered Dietitian Is to answer questions and assist in their development. Assesses knowledge, skills, and abilities for self-development and goal setting. Participates in quality improvement activities within the clinical nutrition team. Completes annual requirements for Dietitian Registered II. Performs other duties as assigned. Education: Required: Bachelor's Degree. Preferred: Master's degree in nutrition or a related field. Experience: Required: 3 or more years in clinical nutrition, and 3 years of clinical time devoted to an area of specialty. Licensure/Certification/Listing: Required: BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider Certification as a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and Licensure as a Dietitian/Nutritionist (LDN) by the North Carolina Board of Dietetics/Nutrition (NCBDN) and Certification in specialty or formal training in specialty if certification is not available. Professional membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Preferred: Contract certification.
