Summary

The Oversight Consultant - Procedures and Controls is responsible for assisting with operational controls and oversight to manage risk associated with the offering of advisory and brokerage products and services. This role supports Wealth policy, procedure and control efforts, audit finding management, record retention efforts, and other projects as needed.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • With limited direction and supervision, assists with ownership of small to moderate (with some large) operational controls and oversights for Wealth investment products, programs and services in order to mitigate risk. This includes design and implementation of new or existing policies, procedures and controls.
  • Interprets customer (internal and external) needs can explain and translate product or program features and functions into operational controls to mitigate risks.
  • With moderate autonomy, translates wealth risk and controls strategy into product design details and requirements, and may be expected to perform ongoing oversight or control processes on behalf of the first line of business.
  • Provides expertise and support to internal teams and advisors for risk management and oversight and controls programs
  • Utilizes knowledge of best practices for regulatory compliance and operational controls in order to ensure adherence to business conduct policies/procedures for Field and client practices or ensures the escalation of thereof for concerns
  • Manages the appropriateness and timeliness of proposed resolutions for Wealth internal audit findings.
  • Ensures the department meets the Enterprise's books and records requirements and that they are accurately documented within policies and procedures or ensures the escalation of non-compliance or concerns to the supervisor.
  • Assists with metrics reporting, regulatory inquiries and examination requests.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, finance, economics or related field Equivalent combination of work experience at Northwestern Mutual will be considered.
  • 5 plus years of experience in financial services with an emphasis in operations, investment products, regulatory support, or compliance and supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change within cross-departmental initiatives
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to develop risk and controls expertise
  • Ability to leverage industry resources
  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills, with ability to work within deadlines, prioritize work and multitask.
  • Proven leadership skills including relationship building, negotiating, delegation, planning and organization
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to research and resolve problems and issues consistent with regulatory requirements.
This position has been classified as a Registered Representative under NMIS guidelines and requires fingerprinting.Series 24 - FINRA, Series 7 - FINRA, SIE - FINRA

$134,040.00

Structure 110:

$98,320.00 USD - $147,480.00 USD

Structure 115:

$102,800.00 USD - $154,200.00 USD
