What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to act as the PSTG Operations Integration Lead to serve as the bridge between Power Sources Technology Group capability needs and facility, infrastructure, and project integration activities. This role ensures that mission objective, equipment needs, and operational needs (safety, security, quality) are clearly understood, accurately translated, and effectively integrated into planning, construction, and transition to operations activities for new capabilities.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Engage closely with PSTG management and technical teams to understand operational needs, equipment requirements, and mission workflows
  • Translate mission needs into actionable facility, infrastructure, and operational integration requirements and execution strategies
  • Represent PSTG in design, construction, and readiness areas, including design coordination meetings and construction walkdowns to ensure mission needs are integrated into execution strategies.
  • Oversee integration of Programmatic Infrastructure and Equipment (PIE), working with construction and commissioning teams to ensure readiness and incorporating PSTG into hand over activities
  • Evaluate project progress to identify additional requirements necessary for equipment installation, operations, and long term mission success
  • Lead the development of equipment procurement and installation strategies, coordinating with SMEs, vendors, and project team members to meet mission timelines
  • Develop and execute transition strategies that minimize operational downtime during the move from current facilities to the Power Sources Capability (PSC) facility. Plan and coordinate mission critical equipment disconnects, relocations, and installations identifying resource needs and ensuring alignment with TTO and program partners
  • Establish operational and maintenance strategies for equipment and ensure accurate updates to asset management systems
  • Support the safe and complete decommissioning of PSTG operations, ensuring seamless mission continuity throughout the transition

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range

$87,400 - $168,800

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require

  • Bachelors degree in a related field; or equivalent (AS + 4 years or no degree + 8 years)
  • Experience with construction coordination, equipment installation, or similar technical environments
  • Experience with laboratory safety and operations
  • An active DOE Q clearance, or equivalent is required to start
Qualifications We Desire

  • Demonstrated project management experience, including coordinating multiple teams, aligning schedules, tracking deliverables, and resource planning
  • Strong ability to understand complex equipment needs and operational workflows.
  • Familiarity with facility planning, utilities, construction processes, and equipment installation practices
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross functionally across diverse technical teams and management
  • Experience working with contracted resources to align scope of work, scheduling, and other resource management
About Our Team

Department 7442, PSTG Capabilities Management stewards and executes PSTG capabilities. We perform a variety of technical work within the core PSTG capabilities as well as ensure mission needs is met through sustained management equipment, facility, and operational needs. We also support major infrastructure investments, including the PSC project, to ensure sustained mission capability.

Security Clearance

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
