Description

This position is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and implementation of statewide behavioral health workforce initiatives administered by the Illinois Behavioral Health Workforce Center. The Program Coordinator provides project management support, logistical coordination, support and coordination for event planning, and technical and administrative assistance across multiple workforce projects and partnerships.


Examples of Duties

PROJECT COORDINATION, ADMINISTRATION AND SUPPORT: 100%

  1. Serve as a project coordinator for multiple BHWC workforce development initiatives, including training programs, pipeline activities, workforce research efforts, and stakeholder engagement activities.
  2. Support the Executive Director in coordinating project timelines, meetings, calendars, communications, deliverables, and milestones across BHWC initiatives.
  3. Support the coordination of BHWC Advisory Council, Executive Committee, joint hub activities work group meetings. Assist with planning and coordinating statewide meetings, trainings and events, including scheduling, logistics, material preparation, and follow-up.
  4. Coordinate with internal teams, academic partners, state agencies, SIU School of Medicine departments, and community stakeholders to support implementation of BHWC projects.
  5. Track project activities, deadlines, participation, and outcomes to ensure timely and accurate completion of deliverables.
  6. Assist with the development and maintenance of project documentation, including work plans, meeting notes, summaries, and internal tracking tools.
  7. Prepare draft reports, summaries, and materials for internal leadership, advisory groups, and external partners.
  8. Support data collection activities related to BHWC programs, including surveys, registrations, attendance tracking, and evaluation coordination.
  9. Provide logistical and administrative support for Program Director-led projects, including coordination of required documentation and reporting materials.
  10. Participate in and support BHWC training activities, learning collaboratives, and workforce events.
  11. Travel statewide as needed to support BHWC meetings, trainings, site visits, and partner engagements.
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications

CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER

  1. Bachelor's degree.
  2. Two (2) years of experience in program management, program evaluation, needs assessments, community engagement and development, training programs, writing, program coordination, and/or group facilitation.

**Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  1. Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects
  2. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  3. Skill in analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  4. Skill in scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.
  5. Skill in oral and written communication
  6. Ability to adjust actions in relation to others' actions.
  7. Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
  8. Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
  9. Ability to develop goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
  10. Ability to work effectively with staff, the public, and outside constituency groups
  11. Ability to effectively plan, delegate, and supervise the work of others.
  12. Ability to utilize various computer software packages, such as Accounting Software, query, etc.
  13. Ability to work independently and exercise judgment in order to be able to analyze and investigate a variety of questions or problems
  14. Ability to analyze and develop guidelines, procedures and systems

Condition of Employment
Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, an out-of-state resident who is hired into this position must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of their start date.
