Position: Temporary Business Administrator 2 Hours: This is a full-time position (40 hours per week. 8:30 am-5 pm) Pay: $33.00 per hour Campus: Evanston Approximate start date:3/16/2026 Approximate end date: 8/31/2026 Northwestern University is seeking a temporary Business Administrator 2. Specific Responsibilities
Uses some judgment to adapt an advanced knowledge of skills, methods, practices, policies &/or procedures & a moderate degree of innovation, analysis & reasoning to complete work that is somewhat project oriented & involves some complex problems &/or decisions. Ensures prompt payment of invoices, researching errors/delayed transactions. Level I & II NU Financials approver. Produces, edits, and distributes communications and presenations. Manages website, assuring updates are made in a timely manner. Plans numerous special events throughout the year, assuring all logistics are complete. Monitors area facilities conditions & directs requests to Facilities Management using FAMIS. Works with management to assign staff &/or faculty space including appropriate FM refresh/renovation & furniture purchase. Coordinates set up of furniture, data & phone lines. Recommends changes & improvements to administrative operations to ensure most effective & efficient use of revenue streams for faculty & staff recruitment, program development, research expansions, space planning, etc.
Miscellaneous Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as business, accounting or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience. 4 years' administrative experience including budgets, finance, grants, facilities, &/or human resources; or other relevant experience.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a variety of internal and external constituents; writes in a clear and well-organized manner. Must demonstrate good judgment and strong attention to detail and timelines; the ability to manage, organize, and prioritize simultaneous tasks. Must be able to adapt to changing priorities and adjust projects and tasks to meet different situations. Takes initiative to improve project results and to problem-solve; anticipates and plans for potential tasks needed. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint.
In addition to salary, this temporary position is eligible for paid time off and paid sick time in accordance with Northwestern University policies. This position is not eligible for other benefits offered to regular staff positions.
