RSM's Financial Services practice serves clients across specialty finance-including technologyenabled lenders, consumer and auto finance platforms, marketplace/embedded finance businesses, and equipment finance providers. On this team, you will focus on tax compliance and consulting for highgrowth FinTech and technologyplatform clients as well as established specialty lenders, many with complex securitization, multistate, and ASC 740 considerations. You'll collaborate with audit and consulting colleagues to deliver an integrated, national solution for specialty finance companies operating at enterprise scale.

  • FinTech and technologyplatform businesses integrating financial services (e.g., embedded finance, datadriven lending).
  • Consumer and auto finance platforms with wholeloan sales/servicing and securitization structures.
  • Equipment finance and paymentsadjacent specialty finance models.

As a Tax Senior Manager, your responsibilities center around three core concepts-Technical & Quality Expertise, People & Talent Management, and Client Service/Business Development-following the RSM framework below, tailored to Specialty Finance.

Responsibilities:

Technical & Quality Expertise

  • Lead complex specialty finance engagements, delivering highvalue tax advice on compliance, planning, ASC 740, and transactionrelated matters (including securitizations and technologyenabled operating models).
  • Review and elevate technical conclusions, ensuring alignment with firm policies and professional standards; coordinate crossfunctional teams (SALT, International, M&A Tax, Tax Technology).
  • Stay current on tax law developments affecting specialty finance (e.g., provisions impacting lenders and securitizations) and translate them into practical, nontechnical guidance for executives.
  • Oversee ASC 740 reviews for specialty finance companies and technology platforms with embedded financial products.

People & Talent Management

  • Provide daytoday leadership to engagement teams; mentor, coach, and develop the specialty finance bench, including building local capability in coordination with national leadership.
  • Model a collaborative culture across tax, audit, and consulting to deliver a seamless client experience.

Client Service & Business Development

  • Serve as client service coordinator; design and execute account plans that expand tax services across the specialty finance lifecycle (compliance, provision, consulting, and M&A support).
  • Drive growth and profitability by deepening existing relationships and originating new opportunities; leverage market engagement platforms.
  • Build relationships across lines of business to bring the full power of the firm to clients (enterprise teaming).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in business taxation working for a Big 4 or a large national, regional or local accounting firm; or equivalent in industry or with a law firm
  • Active CPA, JD/LLM or EA
  • Extensive tax compliance & consulting experience serving specialty finance clients
  • Strong working knowledge of tax code and technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance
  • Ability to manage and grow a book of business
  • Proven track record simultaneously managing multiple projects and client engagement teams from start-to-end

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters of Accounting, Masters of Taxation or MBA
  • Proven track record generating new business and extend service opportunities

At RSM, an employee's pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $126,100 - $253,000

Individualsselected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
