Job Summary
The Gas-Insulated Support Specialist provides technical expertise and training related to gas insulated electrical equipment across field service teams. This role focuses on developing and delivering training programs, providing technical guidance, and supporting installation, maintenance, and commissioning activities for gas insulated electrical systems. The specialist works closely with field service personnel to improve knowledge, safety practices, and operational performance while supporting power distribution systems in commercial, industrial, and utility environments. The position requires extensive travel across North America and strong experience in electrical field service operations. Job Responsibilities
Deliver technical training to field personnel on the installation, maintenance, and commissioning of gas insulated electrical equipment.
Provide technical guidance and subject matter expertise to field teams and leadership regarding gas insulated systems and power distribution equipment.
Conduct training sessions in classroom and on-site environments at training facilities and customer locations.
Support field personnel with troubleshooting, operational guidance, and best practices for gas insulated equipment.
Develop training materials, procedures, and safety documentation related to electrical systems and equipment.
Mentor and coach technicians and engineers to strengthen technical capabilities and field service performance.
Support safe work practices including hazard energy control and lockout and tagout procedures.
Assist in planning field service activities and provide guidance on work execution and safety procedures.
Collaborate with teams across the organization to support the growth of gas insulated electrical equipment services.
Maintain compliance with applicable safety and regulatory standards including NFPA, OSHA, and related industry guidelines.
Travel to training locations, district offices, and customer sites across North America as required.
Job Requirements
Associate degree or equivalent military experience.
Strong expertise in gas insulated electrical equipment operation, construction, and commissioning.
Experience working with power distribution systems in commercial, industrial, or utility environments.
Experience with lockout and tagout procedures and hazard energy control practices.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to train and mentor technical teams.
Ability to organize travel schedules and manage multiple project priorities.
First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain certification.
OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour certification or equivalent.
Valid and unrestricted driver's license.
Ability to travel up to 75 percent to training facilities and customer locations.
Education
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years of electrical field service experience with electrical distribution equipment such as gas insulated systems, switchgear, motor control centers, transformers, or power electronics.
Experience with equipment testing, commissioning, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Experience planning and executing lockout and tagout procedures for complex work sites.
Experience delivering technical training or mentoring field service personnel preferred.
