Position Summary: Service Technician I

As a Service Technician I, you perform on-site service, maintenance, and installation support for AVDG clients' audiovisual systems. You respond to service calls, troubleshoot system issues in the field, and assist with project installations under the guidance of senior technicians. This role is the foundation of our field service delivery, requiring strong technical aptitude, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to learn complex AV systems while working both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Respond to service calls and perform on-site troubleshooting of commercial audiovisual systems including conference rooms, boardrooms, classrooms, training facilities, and collaboration spaces
  • Assist with installation and configuration of AV equipment including displays, projectors, video walls, speakers, microphones, amplifiers, DSPs, video conferencing systems, switchers, matrix routers, control panels, and related AV devices
  • Perform preventative maintenance visits to inspect, clean, and test client AV systems ensuring optimal performance
  • Provide basic end-user training to clients on the operation of their AV systems and equipment
  • Upload and download control system programs (Crestron, Q-SYS, Extron, etc.) under supervision of Service Support Specialist II or III or Service Technician II or III
  • Document all service activities with detailed reporting including work performed, parts used, time spent, and recommendations for follow-up
  • Interface professionally with clients to understand issues, explain troubleshooting steps, and ensure satisfaction with service delivery
  • Maintain service vehicle, tools, and equipment in clean, organized, and safe working condition

Special Attributes:

  • Ability to read and understand device layout drawings, engineered schematics, and provide redline corrections and construction blueprints pertaining to A/V industry
  • Industry certifications such as: Biamp Tesira Forte, Q-SYS level 1, Dante Level 1, Extron EAVA, and CTS are HIGHLY DESIRED
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal skills, and ability to interface with a variety of personality and cultures is mandatory

To join our band, you'll need the following experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or Associate's degree preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in the AV integration industry or related technical field
  • Basic understanding of audiovisual systems, signal flow, and common AV equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret basic technical diagrams, rack elevations, and system documentation
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools commonly used in AV installation and service

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel is required to client sites when necessary and conferences/training events as applicable
  • Travel time compensated under a governing policy; more details available upon request
  • Valid Driver's License with no criminal record required
  • Valid passport preferred for potential international travel

Pay Rate:$35-45/hr depending on background and experience.
