This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Blue Origin is seeking a skilled and detail-orientedLarge Volume Metrologistto join our Metrology team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing high-accuracy dimensional measurements in support of rocket manufacturing, assembly, and integration operations. You will work with state-of-the-art instrumentation and metrology software to ensure our hardware meets the precise tolerances required for safe and reliable spaceflight.

What You'll Do:

  • Perform large volume metrology measurements usinglaser trackersand other precision instruments in a manufacturing and assembly environment
  • Operate and configure metrology instrumentation withinSpatial Analyzer (SA)as the primary software platform
  • Tie multiple instruments togetherwithin SA to create unified measurement networks across large workspaces
  • ExecuteUnified Spatial Metrology Networks (USMNs)and relationship fits to optimize measurement accuracy across instrument setups
  • Performbest-fit alignments, nominal comparisons, and geometric analysesusing SA toolsets
  • Read and interpretengineering drawingswith a thorough understanding ofGeometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Follow and execute writtenMeasurement Procedures (MPs)andWork Instructions (WIs)with strict attention to detail
  • Performoperational checks, calibration verifications, and health assessmentson metrology instruments prior to and following use
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to support hardware build and inspection milestones
  • Document measurement results, generate reports, and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders
  • Maintain metrology equipment in accordance with handling, storage, and preventative maintenance requirements
  • Support continuous improvement efforts for metrology processes, tooling, and procedures

Working Conditions:

  • On-site, full-time position in a manufacturing and/or integration facility
  • May require working in elevated areas, confined spaces, or around rotating equipment with appropriate PPE
  • Occasional overtime may be required to meet program milestones

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2+ yearsof hands-on experience in large volume metrology or a related precision measurement field
  • Proficiency inSpatial Analyzer (SA)software
  • Demonstrated experience operatinglaser trackers(Leica preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge ofGD&Tand the ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
  • Experience performinginstrument network solutions (USMN)and multi-instrument tie-ins within SA
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and work instructions with a high degree of accuracy and repeatability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (required for access to export-controlled technology)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience withLeica laser trackers(AT960, AT403, or similar)
  • Familiarity withlaser scanners, laser radar,andphotogrammetry systems(e.g., V-STARS)
  • Experience with additional metrology software including:
    • PolyWorks(Inspector / Modeler)
    • VXelements
    • V-STARS
    • Leica Cyclone
  • Exposure to aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing environments
  • Experience supporting large-scale structure assembly and alignment (tooling, fixtures, airframes, pressure vessels, etc.)
  • CMSC certification or equivalent metrology training/credentials

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
