Description
The Training Specialist II is responsible for facilitating new hire and continuing education skills training for teammates. Additionally the Specialist II will design and development new or improved curriculum content in support of new hire and enrichment skills training via instructor-led or computer-based training experiences. In this role, the Specialist II will:
- Exhibit a high-level understanding of the business and business training needs as evidenced by knowledge of products, business strategies and results
- Exhibit an understanding of adult learners and their unique learning needs
- Function as a business service provider through the delivery of training curriculum
- Coordinate and oversee the new hire curriculum throughout all of Atlantic Union's footprint
- Provide facilitation support for new hire training including coaching and evaluation of the learning process to provide feed-back to the learner and hiring manager
- Apply advanced adult learning theories to produce participant manuals and leader guides for instructor-led and computer-based training; develop supporting job aids
- Participate in and provide leadership to assigned training projects
- Exhibit the skills necessary to develop and deliver webinars and synchronous training
- Serve as a recognized positive change agent
- Exhibit full engagement in and support of Atlantic Union's Purpose, Pillars and Values in all training and corporate responsibilities
The Specialist II will begin to develop the skills necessary to design and develop new learning content for both instructor-led and electronic asynchronous training delivery. Position Accountabilities
- Possess proficient facilitation skills.
- Facilitate training using sound training techniques with an emphasis on Adult Learning Principles and participant learning style preferences.
- Begin to facilitate advanced Atlantic Union instructor-led classes.
- Evaluate course effectiveness over time and make enhancements and updates to learning curriculum as appropriate or as dictated by business needs.
- Support the on-going maintenance of current course content, revisions, and implementations.
- Conduct basic analysis to identify learning and development needs; recommend solutions to key stakeholders.
- Learn and begin to apply basic Instructional Systems Design methodology including scope, analysis, design, develop, organize, facilitate, evaluate, and update classes on a wide range of topics such as product knowledge, technical training, sales, and customer service.
- Work collaboratively with business partners throughout curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation.
- Gain experience in cross-functional projects for all learning stakeholders including all lines of business and HR.
- Provide support in the communication and management of the total learning process.
- Maintain confidentiality.
Organizational Relationship This position reports to the Learning Manager. Position Qualifications Education & Training
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a related field (g., education, communication, training design, human resources, or business/finance); Masters in a training-related field preferred
- A minimum of five years' experience in a training capacity, with at least three years' experience in facilitation
- A minimum of two years' experience in an instructional design capacity with a focus on adult learners
- Retail banking and/or financial services experience strongly preferred
- Continual professional development in facilitation skills and ability to become certified in Instructional Design
- Ability to achieve facilitation certification in Atlantic Union basic and advanced instructor-led courses and in basic vendor-licensed curriculum
Knowledge & Skills
- Experience in facilitating classroom training with varied adult learner skills/experiences
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines
- Excellent oral and strong written communications skills necessary
- Proficient computer skills relevant to Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Basic experience in training development software such as Captivate, Articulate or Lectora
- Ability to learn additional software or systems technology
- Documented experience in Instructional Systems Design
- Experience managing and leading learning projects
- Self-motivated and flexible
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Exhibit creativity and critical thinking skills
- Travel as necessary to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position
Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
