Purpose of Position:

Provide enterprise leadership for the company's Process Safety Management (PSM) program to prevent catastrophic releases of highly hazardous chemicals. This role establishes corporate PSM strategy, governance, and technical standards while ensuring consistent execution across all covered facilities. The Director serves as the company's senior PSM authority, supporting operational reliability, regulatory compliance, and longterm risk reduction.

Essential Job Functions:

Own and oversee the company's OSHA PSM (29 CFR 1910.119) program across all applicable operations.

Establish corporate PSM standards, procedures, and expectations; ensure consistent implementation across business units.

Serve as the company's senior PSM Subject Matter Expert, supporting operations, maintenance, engineering, and capital projects.

Provide oversight of PHA, Mechanical Integrity, Management of Change, PSSR, incident investigation, and compliance audits.

Ensure compliance with OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, and CalARP requirements, including regulatory submissions and inspections.

Lead or support highrisk PHAs and PSMrelated incident investigations; ensure corrective actions are tracked and closed.

Provide technical leadership for ammonia refrigeration systems and other covered processes.

Supervise and coach a team of PSM Coordinators, providing mentorship, training, and performance evaluations to ensure effective program implementation.

Establish PSM training and competency expectations for operations, maintenance, engineering, and contractors.

Partner with Engineering and Capital teams to ensure new and modified processes meet PSM and inherent safety principles.

Report PSM performance, risks, and improvement initiatives to senior leadership and support the VP of Safety.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a related technical field.

7+ years of experience leading or managing Process Safety Management programs in regulated manufacturing environments.

Strong working knowledge of OSHA PSM, PHA methodologies, Mechanical Integrity, and MOC systems.

Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems and PSM compliance.

Certified Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Instructor (CA-OES CSTI) or ability to obtain and maintain certification.

CSP or ASP preferred; PHA facilitation experience strongly preferred.

In-depth knowledge of hazard communication, electrical safety, lockout/tagout, and respiratory protection.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and safety management systems (e.g., Origami), including database design and customization.

Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.

Valid driver's license

Ability to travel 25%-50%. Travel overnight as required.
