Davidson College Dining is seeking a creative, organized, and motivated Marketing Coordinator to support marketing, communications, and engagement initiatives across Dining Services. This position plays an important role in promoting dining programs, enhancing the student dining experience, and supporting departmental communication, recruitment, and training initiatives.

The Marketing Coordinator will manage digital marketing platforms, create engaging visual and written content, event planning, coordinate sustainability outreach initiatives, and support onboarding and training of Dining associates. The position works closely with Dining leadership, student associates, and campus partners to ensure effective communication and brand consistency across all Dining operations.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications



  • Develop and manage Dining Services' digital marketing strategy across social media platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, and other emerging platforms.
  • Create engaging daily and weekly content highlighting menus, featured items, special promotions, dining events, and campus dining experiences.
  • Design marketing materials including posters, flyers, digital menu boards, signage, and social media graphics using tools such as Adobe creative cloud, Canva or other graphic design platforms.
  • Capture and produce photography and video content to showcase dining venues, food offerings, and campus events.
  • Maintain and update the Davidson College Dining website, ensuring menus, hours of operation, and program information are accurate and current.
  • Monitor and analyze social media engagement and guest feedback to inform marketing strategies and communicate trends to Dining leadership.


Brand Development & Customer Engagement



  • Partner with campus departments and student organizations to coordinate dining-related promotions and events while ensuring adherence to Davidson College Dining branding, messaging, and visual identity guidelines.
  • Support brand guidelines and mission of Davidson College across dining venues, programs, and promotional campaigns.
  • Develop creative campaigns that influence Guest behavior and encourage participation in dining events and promotions.
  • Collect and analyze feedback through surveys, questionnaires, and digital analytics tools to improve dining services and marketing strategies.


Event Planning & Promotions



  • Assist with planning and marketing dining events including theme meals, promotional events, and special campus celebrations.
  • Coordinate event promotions, decorations, menus, and marketing materials.
  • Work closely with Much Ado Catering to promote seasonal menus, catering offerings, and special events.
  • Support major campus events including Orientation, Horticultural Symposium, Commencement, and Alumni/Reunion Weekend.
  • Collaborate with other organizations and departments to host / creative events


Sustainability Initiatives



  • Coordinate Dining Services sustainability programs and campaigns, including initiatives such as waste reduction and composting.
  • Develop marketing strategies to promote awareness and participation in sustainability programs.
  • Plan and coordinate sustainability-related educational events, demonstrations, and workshops for students and campus partners.


Recruitment, Onboarding & Training Support



  • Collaborate with Dining management and Human Resources to support recruitment efforts, including posting job openings and assisting with applicant screening.
  • Assist with the onboarding process for new Dining associates, including facility tours, policy review, introductions to team members, and completion of new hire documentation.
  • Support the development of training materials and manuals for Dining positions and assist with ongoing employee training initiatives.
  • May supervise or coordinate work of student associates and interns supporting marketing efforts.


Collaboration & Operational Support



  • Work collaboratively with Dining managers and campus partners to support department initiatives.
  • Assist with Dining operations or catering events as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support Dining Services operations.


Required Qualifications



  • Associate's degree in marketing, Communications, Hospitality, Business, or related field.
  • Experience with social media management and digital marketing platforms.
  • Experience managing and updating websites or content management systems.
  • Experience with graphic design and visual content creation, including Adobe creative cloud, Canva or similar tools.
  • Photography and/or video production skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Hospitality, Business, or related field.
  • Two or more years of experience developing digital marketing campaigns and content strategies.
  • Experience with web analytics, social media analytics, and digital engagement metrics.
  • Experience managing student associates, interns, or small project teams.
  • Demonstrated creativity and ability to develop innovative marketing strategies.

Work Schedule



  • Evening and weekend work may be required depending on dining events and campus activities.


Seasonal Responsibilities

The Marketing Coordinator may occasionally assist in dining units during peak operational periods. Work availability may be reduced during college holidays and breaks when classes are not in session, including Fall Break, Winter Break, and Spring Break.
