The Opportunity: Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is now hiring a Compliance Specialist in the Human Resources department. Reporting to the Director of Recruiting and Compensation, the Human Resources Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that our organization adheres to employment laws and internal policies. This position requires a combination of regulatory knowledge, analytical skills, and effective communication to navigate the evolving landscape of HR compliance. By maintaining a compliant workplace, the HR Compliance Specialist helps protect the organization from risks and contributes to a positive organizational culture. This position is based at the Daytona Beach campus and will support HR compliance at the Daytona Beach, Prescott, and Worldwide campuses. Responsibilities include the following:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, such as the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and immigration laws, among others. Ensure that documentation is readily accessible for review by regulatory agencies or during internal audits.
- Conduct regular audits of HR practices and processes to ensure compliance with internal and external standards, including review of compensation practices and payments. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of compliance activities, including audit findings, policy updates, and training sessions.
- Develop, implement, and update HR policies and procedures to comply with legal requirements and best practices. Communicate and enforce policies across the Department and with internal stakeholders as needed.
- Complete monthly, quarterly and annual government reports including but not limited to Affirmative Action Plan and affirmation, VETS report, and CSC filings.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, or related field.
- 5-10 years of experience as a paralegal or other compliance-related role may be substituted for degree.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret federal and state regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Analytical skills with an in-depth knowledge of information systems and technical expertise with Microsoft operating systems, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook/email, and Internet end-user applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Workday HRIS.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and immigration laws.
