Job Description:

Baptist Health is looking for a Network Engineer Specialist - Strategy and Design to join our team in Louisville, KY!

Responsible for the architectural design, governance, and delivery of enterprise network services supporting multiple data centers, eight hospital facilities, and more than two hundred fifty branch locations across the Commonwealth of Kentucky within a mission critical, 24x7 environment. This role provides end-to-end technical leadership for major network initiatives, including architecture definition, systems implementation, performance optimization, and long-range capacity planning and forecasting across all network domains, including security and load balancing platforms.

Partners closely with engineering teams, project managers, and cross functional stakeholders to lead complex programs, ensure architectural consistency, and deliver resilient, scalable network solutions that directly support clinical and business operations.

Responsibilities

* Serves as a network architect and subject matter expert providing strategic direction, architectural governance, and technical authority across one or more networking domains including routing and switching, data center, security, wireless, and load balancing.

* Leads architecture, design, and execution for large scale, multi-site network initiatives including campus refreshes, data center modernization, segmentation strategies, cloud connectivity, and security transformations.

* Leads end to end technical architecture for major network programs, working closely with networking leadership, project management, clinical application teams, facilities, vendors, and service providers to ensure alignment with organizational strategy and patient care requirements.

* Provides technical project leadership and oversight for complex network implementations, including scope definition, design approval, risk management, milestone tracking, and production readiness. Acts as the primary technical escalation point for large projects.

* Provides architectural guidance and network expertise to project managers and other technical leads, ensuring consistent standards, best practices, and design patterns are followed across all initiatives.

* Leads enterprise networking technologies including switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, wireless controllers, access points, and network management platforms, with a focus on resiliency, scalability, and security.

* Leads evaluation, selection, design, and integration of new networking technologies and platforms to improve reliability, performance, security, and operational efficiency.

* Defines and oversees production turnover standards including documentation, operational readiness reviews, validation testing, and knowledge transfer to operations teams to ensure stable and predictable implementations.

* Develops and maintains enterprise network architecture diagrams, standards, reference designs, and procedural documentation to support consistency and long-term sustainability.

* Performs capacity planning, performance analysis, and future state architecture modeling to support growth, mergers, and evolving clinical and business demands.

* Provides mentorship, technical direction, and design review support for network engineers, fostering architectural thinking, engineering excellence, and professional development.

* Participates in on call support for critical production systems and serves as a senior escalation resource during major incidents.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree, (Bachelor's degree preferred), or 10 years of equivalent enterprise networking experience. Healthcare experience strongly preferred.

  • 8 years of progressive networking experience, including a minimum of four years in a healthcare environment supporting mission critical clinical systems.

  • Cisco certifications such as CCNP, and Aruba certifications such as ACSA are required. Aruba Equivalent certifications from platforms such as Palo Alto, Aruba, or other enterprise vendors may be substituted at manager discretion.

  • Demonstrated specialization and architectural leadership in at least one major networking domain such as switch/route, data center, etc.

  • Travel required
