Laboratory Research Associate - Student Hourly

The Iowa Institute of Oral Health Research (IIOHR) is seeking a Laboratory Research Associate provides laboratory assistance including solution preparation, equipment cleaning, washing and maintenance, monitoring tests and experiments in a supervised academic research setting, 3-D printing, fabricating, cataloging, and cleaning field equipment, and data entry.

Duties will include:

* Assist with some general laboratory tasks.

* Prepare media and solutions.

* Maintain C. elegans strains.

* Extract genomic and plasmid DNA, and RNA.

The student will be working with C. elegans/cell culture and performing PCR, Western blot, fluorescent microscopy and culturing microorganisms. The student will be collecting and analyzing data and be responsible for keeping a laboratory notebook. Additionally, the student will be responsible for preparing and autoclaving standard laboratory solutions and media.

Work schedule: M-F, between hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm. As close to 18-20 hours / week as possible, flexible.

Rate of Pay: $11.00/Hour
