About the Opportunity
DMI, LLC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oracle DBA to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience administering enterprise database platforms including Oracle Database, and at least one open-source database technology such as PostgreSQL or MySQL. Key Responsibilities:
Database Operations & Administration
Install, configure, maintain, patch, and upgrade Oracle, and PostgreSQL/MySQL databases
- Support production, staging, test, and development environments in accordance with federal change control processes
- Manage database availability, replication, clustering, and failover configurations
- Perform backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations and regularly validate restore procedures
- Maintain database documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Performance & Capacity Management
- Monitor database health, performance, and utilization
- Tune queries, indexes, and database configurations to meet performance requirements
- Conduct capacity planning and storage forecasting
- Troubleshoot complex database and application performance issues
Security, Compliance & Governance
- Implement and enforce database security controls including least-privilege access
- Support compliance with federal cybersecurity and governance frameworks (e.g., NIST, FISMA, RMF)
- Apply database hardening and security technical implementation guides (STIGs)
- Support audits, security assessments, Authority to Operate (ATO) activities, and documentation
- Coordinate with cybersecurity teams on vulnerability remediation and patch compliance
Automation & Modernization
- Automate routine DBA tasks using scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
- Support DevSecOps pipelines and controlled database deployments
- Assist with database modernization initiatives, including migration to cloud or hybrid environments
- Participate in technology refresh and lifecycle replacement planning
Incident & Operational Support
- Provide Tier 2/3 database support for incidents, problems, and service requests
- Participate in on-call rotations and scheduled maintenance windows
- Support root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action planning
- Collaborate with infrastructure, storage, and network teams to resolve cross-domain issues
Qualifications
Required Experience:
- 5-10 years of professional experience as a Database Administrator
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with:
- Oracle Database (12c/19c preferred)
- PostgreSQL and/or MySQL
- Experience supporting secure or regulated environments
- Strong understanding of:
- High availability and disaster recovery
- Backup and restore strategies
- Performance tuning and optimization
- Familiarity with Linux and Windows Server operating systems
- Experience with federal change management, incident management, and documentation processes
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience supporting a Federal Government agency or DoD program
- Experience with database STIG implementation and compliance validation
- Familiarity with cloud platforms used in federal environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, Oracle Government Cloud)
- Experience with hybrid cloud or data center modernization programs
- Knowledge of ITIL-based service management
- Relevant certifications (Microsoft, Oracle, PostgreSQL, AWS/Azure, Security+)
Education:
- Masters Degree
- 5 years experience
