Description

Summary: Private music teachers provide music lessons about how to sing or play a musical instrument to students within school settings.

The role requires building strong, in-person relationships with students and providing targeted learning opportunities to support their academic success; neither students nor faculty may attend these sessions virtually, in light of the potential distractions and reduced effectiveness inherent in virtual interactions.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare lessons in relation to an individual's needs and examination.
  • Acquire appropriate teaching materials and resources.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute in-person private, individual instruction on their primary instrument or voice.
  • Motivate students and encourage progress.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Attend required meetings and training
Requirements
  • Music Degree
  • Experience providing private, individual instruction on their primary instrument or voice (Guitar)
  • Familiarity and ability with distance learning models/formats
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to recognize and correct errors.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience providing private, individual instruction on their primary instrument or voice.

  • This is a fully in-person role that requires on-campus presence for all student interactions.
  • Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work. Must be able to remain on their
  • feet for extended periods of time, go up and down flights of steps, as well as stoop, kneel,
  • crouch, and lift.
  • Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing
  • cabinets, fax machines, etc.
  • Must be capable of using visual display terminal with continuous wrist movement on a
  • keyboard
  • Required to stand for long periods of time
  • Required to, talk, hear, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and
  • arms
  • Required to work evenings, weekends and holidays in conjunction with School calendar and
  • events.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25lbs. without assistance.
  • Ability to see with normal parameters.
  • Operates in a professional work environment
