About the Role

The Mechanical Engineer V leads the design and development of complex mechanical systems for imaging products used in medical and industrial environments. This role is responsible for translating product requirements into robust mechanical designs, guiding the mechanical development process, and supporting cross-functional project teams from concept through production. The position also drives innovation through research and development of new mechanical, opto-mechanical, and electro-mechanical technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the mechanical design and development of new products, ensuring designs meet performance, cost, and manufacturability requirements.

  • Develop and evaluate concept designs, perform trade-off analysis, and communicate design progress to project teams.

  • Perform and document engineering analysis including structural (FEA), thermal (CFD), tolerance analysis, and torque calculations.

  • Coordinate with Mechanical Designers and Engineers to develop component models, assemblies, and drawings using CAD tools.

  • Approve design documentation including BOMs, solid models, drawings, and Design History File documentation in compliance with quality systems.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.

  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and Test Engineering teams to implement new designs and support product validation.

  • Lead research and development initiatives exploring new mechanical, opto-mechanical, electro-mechanical, and material technologies.

  • Support design verification testing, prototype development, and technical reporting.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field with 15+ years of experience, or Master's/PhD with 12+ years of experience in mechanical, opto-mechanical, or electro-mechanical design.

  • Expertise with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) including advanced modeling, surfacing, and drawing creation.

  • Strong experience with engineering analysis tools including FEA and CFD.

  • Deep knowledge of mechanical design for electronics packaging and precision assemblies.

  • Experience with GD&T (ANSI Y14.5) and tolerance analysis.

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal, injection molding, and PCBA integration.

  • Experience with medical device quality standards including FDA 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485, and IEC 60601.

Nice to Have
  • Experience with endoscopic camera systems or medical imaging devices.

  • Experience with KeyShot or SolidWorks Visualize for product rendering.

  • Familiarity with SAP and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.

What You'll Need to Succeed
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex engineering challenges.

  • Ability to lead projects and collaborate effectively across cross-functional and global teams.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly.

  • Strong organization and time management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

What We Offer
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge medical imaging technologies.
