About this opportunity:

This role leads key fundraising and membership initiatives that support Indiana Public Radio (IPR) and WIPBTV. The position oversees membership campaigns, donor cultivation, and individual giving programs while collaborating closely with station leadership to grow and retain community support. The work directly strengthens the financial foundation of Ball State Public Broadcasting by engaging donors, managing fundraising strategies, and guiding staff who contribute to these efforts.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

What you'll do and what you'll bring:

Position Function: Design, manage, and implement activities for IPR and WIPB Membership, Major Gifts and Individual giving programs. Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects for membership as well as major gifts from existing and potential donors to support station goals. Manage the Membership Services Administrator to assist with the implementation of on-air and off-air fundraising campaigns for both IPR and WIPB. Work with Director of Audience Development and Community Engagement Coordinator to collaborate on community events designed to increase donations, membership, and retain and convert existing members to major donors.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree by date of employment

  • At least three years of experience in non-profit fundraising, which must include planned giving and membership acquisition; excellent interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to cultivate and solicit high net worth individuals and their advisors.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in philanthropy or other related discipline.

  • At least five years' of progressively responsible professional experience in development, planned giving, major gift fundraising, member acquisition and progressively responsible program management; proven experience with planned giving techniques.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute all membership campaigns and activities, including on-air fundraising drives and direct mail campaigns for WIPB and IPR.

  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding established fundraising performance goals for WIPB and IPR as specified by General Manager. Includes developing, proposing and overseeing the implementation of fundraising drives and campaigns to meet stated objectives. Achieving the periodically updated performance metrics is a minimum performance requirement and will be a primary basis for annual performance evaluation.

  • Collaborate with General Manager and the Director of Audience Development to develop and design a membership acquisition and retention plan to work in conjunction with community engagement efforts and on-air programming.

  • Administer and manage annual, major, and mid-level individual giving programs for IPR and WIPB-TV; includes creating a comprehensive development strategy for each.

  • Identify, engage, and successfully solicit individuals, corporations, and foundations for standard, mid-level and major gifts on behalf of Indiana Public Radio (IPR) and WIPB-TV. Coordinate with General Manager on this effort.

  • Conduct research to assist in the identification and solicitation of top prospective donors; create plans and outline organization wide strategies for engaging these donors with the stations and establishing an on-going philanthropic relationship with these donors which result in a major or planned gift

  • Collaborate with University Foundation Development staff to identify potential donors that can be contacted who may have an interest or desire to increase current donor levels with additional support to Ball State University Public Broadcasting IPR/WIPB.

  • Manage the relationship process for individual, private foundation and corporate donors; includes prospect development, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.

  • Report relationship management activity into IPR and WIPB's fundraising software system; includes identification, qualification, cultivation activity, solicitation and stewardship of prospective and current mid-level and major donors.

  • Plan and implement membership events designed to increase the membership base for IPR and WIPB at Ball State University.

  • Manage Membership budgets and work with the General Manager in preparing yearly projected budgets for all membership activities.

  • Use membership tracking software and supervise data entry in the Allegiance donor software.

  • Assign and review work, orient and train staff and students, and make recommendations in all areas related to supervision, including but not limited to interviewing and selection, compensation, discipline, performance appraisal, and training and career development.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
