Description The Nursing Quality Outcomes & Safety Coordinator supports hospital and nursing division initiatives focused on quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. This position partners closely with theSenior Nursing Quality Outcomes & Safety Coordinators, as well as Hospital Quality, Safety, Regulatory, Infection Prevention, and Risk Management teams, to advance nursing quality and safety priorities across the organization. The Coordinator assists in coordinating and implementing quality improvement (QI) and patient safety projects by applying principles of project management, performance improvement, and change management. This includes gathering and analyzing data, preparing reports and presentations, tracking metrics, and supporting unit-based and divisional teams in achieving improvement goals.
Qualifications

Minimum Education
BSN (Required)
Master's Degree (Preferred)

Minimum Work Experience
5 years Progressively responsible clinical experience within a nursing or clinical setting (critical care experience preferred), including at least 2 years experience in nursing quality and patient safety initiatives. (Required)

Required Licenses and Certifications
Registered Nurse (Required)

Wound certification (WOCN, CWCN, WCC) (Preferred)

CPHQ or other Quality Improvement Training (Preferred)

Skills and Qualifications Needed:

  • Experience in wound, ostomy, and continence nursing, with a focus on pressure injury prevention and treatment in critical care populations
  • Ability to lead and sustain hospital-wide skin and wound care initiatives, including prevalence studies, prevention rounds, and root cause reviews
  • Knowledge of quality improvement methodology
  • Strong knowledge of nursing sensitive indicators related to skin integrity and patient safety
  • Proficiency in providing, hands-on wound and skin care at the bedside using standardized care pathways
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills

    Functional Accountabilities
    Nursing Quality Outcomes
  • Collaborate with Senior Coordinators and nursing leaders to implement, monitor, and evaluate nursing quality initiatives.
  • Coordinate nursing quality improvement projects and assist in data collection, analysis, and reporting of nursing-sensitive indicators.
  • Facilitate communication and dissemination of outcomes and improvement strategies across nursing units.
  • Support the Nursing Quality and Outcomes Committee and other related workgroups by coordinating meetings, preparing materials, and documenting progress.
  • Assist in translating findings from quality projects into action plans that improve nursing practice and patient outcomes.

Quality Data Management

  • Develop and maintain tools for data collection, aggregation, and analysis.
  • Coordinate and validate nursing quality data submissions to internal databases and national benchmarking systems (e.g., NDNQI, NHSN).
  • Track and trend nursing quality metrics to evaluate performance and effectiveness of interventions.
  • Create and distribute dashboards, reports, and scorecards to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Apply benchmark data to identify performance gaps and support improvement efforts.

Program Coordination & Continuous Readiness

  • Support ongoing readiness for accreditation and regulatory reviews by monitoring compliance and collecting required documentation.
  • Assist in coordination of quality, risk, and patient safety activities across the Division of Nursing.
  • Partner with nursing and interprofessional teams to identify and address gaps in processes impacting quality outcomes.
  • Help ensure nursing practice and policy align with evidence-based standards and regulatory requirements.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Serve as a liaison between the Division of Nursing and hospital departments to ensure clear communication on quality initiatives.
  • Coordinate agendas, minutes, and documentation for quality and safety meetings or committees.
  • Support the sharing of best practices and outcomes through presentations, reports, or educational materials.
  • Respond to requests for data, information, or clarification related to nursing quality programs.

Professional Practice

  • Contribute to the organization's Magnet journey by advancing evidence-based practice and quality nursing care.
  • Participate in Shared Nursing Leadership councils and performance improvement activities.
  • Support dissemination of outcomes and improvement work through internal or external presentations.
  • Promote teamwork, collaboration, and accountability in all quality improvement efforts.
