JOB SUMMARY |
The Industrial Engineer Intern supports the manufacturing and operations teams in improving productivity, efficiency, and process reliability within the production areas. This role provides hands-on experience in a heavy manufacturing environment by assisting with process analysis, data collection, workflow improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position will work closely with industrial engineers, production supervisors, and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for operational improvements while gaining exposure to real-world engineering practices. |
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Assist in analyzing manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improved productivity and efficiency.
- Support time studies, work sampling, and labor analysis to help develop and maintain labor standards.
- Collect and analyze production data related to throughput, cycle time, and process performance.
- Assist with process mapping and documentation of manufacturing workflows.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles such as 5S, waste reduction, and standard work.
- Help develop and update work instructions, process documentation, and visual management tools.
- Assist with plant layout reviews and material flow analysis to improve production efficiency.
- Participate in problem-solving activities related to production, quality, or process issues.
- Support data analysis and reporting related to operational performance metrics.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, quality, and supply chain teams on improvement projects.
- Assist with special projects related to manufacturing process improvements, cost reduction, or capacity planning.

| EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE |
Required Education / Experience
- Actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Education / Experience
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Completion of at least two years of undergraduate coursework
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing data analysis

The manufacturing environment may include elevated noise levels, dust, oil, grease, and varying temperatures depending on the season. |
