ABOUT THE ROLE

The student intern will support the Skokie Engineering team as well as Operations Value Streams by contributing to several active initiatives, including P3 program support, the Bright Ideas program, daily open items from Gemba Walks, and PSIF program activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Conducting time studies, workflow observations, and data collection to support process optimization.
  • Assisting in the development and validation of standardized work documentation, process maps, and operator instructions.
  • Supporting PFMEA updates, control plan revisions, and other production readiness documentation.
  • Participating in the resolution of open items stemming from daily Gemba Walks, including root cause investigations related to production issues, quality concerns, or equipment performance.
  • Assisting with the implementation of automation or semiautomation improvements, including fixture evaluations, tooling documentation, and trial runs.
  • Supporting KPI tracking by analyzing production data, generating summary reports, and presenting insights to the engineering team in conjunction with the MES project.
  • Collaborating crossfunctionally with Quality, Operations, and Maintenance teams to implement and validate improvements on the shop floor.



JOB REQUIREMENTS



  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing or industrial engineering.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative on new tasks
  • Able to work in an engaging, fast-paced, and learning-oriented environment
  • AutoCAD or similar experience a plus.
  • Previous co-op or internship experience preferred.


PAY RATE

The base pay for internships ranges between $23.50 - $33.50/hr. Factors, such as but not limited to, whether the role is technical or non-technical and education level may impact the pay for this position.
