Summary
Redwire Space Components is looking for a Junior Level, Embedded Software Engineer to join our team in Marlborough, MA. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who has completed at least six months of hands-on internship experience in an embedded software development environment. In this role, you'll work closely with experienced engineers to develop and test embedded software for high-reliability space systems.


Responsibilities


  • Work with software, hardware, and FPGA engineers to help develop software solutions that meet system requirements
  • Participate in software analysis activities, including static and dynamic testing
  • Assist in creating and maintaining software documentation such as requirements and design descriptions
  • Use the Xilinx Vitis software platform to build, load, test, and debug software on Zynq7000 SoCs or Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoCs systems
  • Help identify and integrate software components, including internal libraries or approved open-source solutions
  • Contribute to Agile development tasks by helping define, organize, and estimate work needed for each task
  • Support software testing activities in collaboration with SQA, including test planning and integration
  • Document your work clearly and accurately for the engineering team
  • Share and discuss your design ideas with other engineers and, when needed, customers


Required Qualifications


  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • At least 6 months of embedded software internship or co-op experience
  • Familiarity with embedded Linux or an RTOS environment (experience with FreeRTOS is a plus)
  • Basic understanding of software development workflows, including version control (Git experience preferred)
  • Some exposure to operating system fundamentals such as schedulers, memory management, or device interfaces
  • Experience programming in C or C++
  • Willingness to learn, take on new challenges, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team
  • US Citizenship required
  • Some limited travel may be required


Desired Skills


  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Interest or familiarity with the Xilinx Vitis development environment
  • Experience or exposure to hardware interface protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, CSI, or Ethernet
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies
  • Exposure to RTOS or embedded Linux device drivers or bootloaders
  • Experience or coursework related to image processing or camera-based sensing systems
  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Jenkins, or Doxygen
  • Experience with microcontrollers or YOCTO is helpful but not required



Pay Range
$85,500/yr. - $150,000/yr.
