Are you a detail-oriented engineer with a passion for operational excellence? Airbus Helicopters, Inc. is looking for an Associate Quality Engineer (Supply Chain) to join our North America team. In this pivotal role, you won't just monitor performance-you'll drive it. From managing high-level supplier data in SAP to implementing Lean Six Sigma improvements, you will act as the vital link between our suppliers and our internal production goals. Your Working Environment:

On the eastern border of Mississippi you'll find Columbus, home to our Helicopter manufacturing and assembly lines and Center of Excellence for the entire North America region. It's here that we produce the UH-72A Lakota Helicopters for the U.S. Army in addition to the H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers.

Your Challenges:

Supplier Data Management: 45%

  • Manage supplier quality Approval/Authorization

  • Ensure that suppliers are compliant with certifications required in coordination with relevant stakeholders.

  • Update supplier data in the related IT Systems (SAP, C-SAAM, etc.)

  • Perform Audit-by-Mail activities

  • Support the Supply Chain Risk Analysis process (e.g. Watchtower)

Supply Chain Quality Management: 30%

  • Act as focal point for the suppliers for operational activities and contract management and as ambassador of the supplier toward internal functions

  • Assess suppliers during tendering phase and contribute to the selection decision

  • Manage supply chain & quality aspects of the contract, being responsible for On Time, On Quality (and on Cost when applicable) performance

  • Initiate and manage supplier performance improvement projects

  • Contribute to the annual Supplier Evaluation Development (SED).

  • Present and report on the situation of the supplier on operational performance (KPIs, assessments...) during Multi-Functional Team (MFT) meetings and to next level Management.

  • Train the suppliers on AH Group Contractual Industrial and AHI requirement standards

Continuous Improvement: 25%

  • Work with team members to implement Supply Chain Corrective / Improvement / Development missions using a variety of tools and techniques based on Lean 6 Sigma principles (Practical Problem Solving, 8D, 5W ...) and Advanced Program Quality Planning (APQP) tools (Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA), key characteristics, control plan, ...)

  • Find solutions to complex technical supplier issues using appropriate tools (i.e. Practical Problem Solving (PPS), Six Sigma, 8D, Kepner Tregoe) and personal high technical background.

  • Track and report at commodity level to management and internal customers the supply chain progress.

  • Facilitate PPS projects for AHI and supplier chain

Your Boarding Pass:

  • BS Degree in Engineering / Procurement / Logistics or equivalent knowledge gained through four (4) years of work experience

  • Two (2) or more years' experience in quality, logistic or procurement related fields

  • SAP knowledge

  • MS SharePoint

  • Microsoft Office Suite: MSWord, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint

  • Tableau

Travel Required:

  • 10% Domestic and International

Citizenship:

  • Must be a US Person under ITAR definition (a U.S. Citizen, green card holder or person covered under our existing ITAR license)

Physical Requirements:

  • Onsite or remote: 95% Onsite

  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. Daily

  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Daily

  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. Daily

  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment. Daily

  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs/5kgs. Frequently

  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs/5kgs. Frequently

  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. As required.

  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer. Daily

  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. Occasionally

  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor. Daily

  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. Several times a year.

  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Daily

  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site

  • Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
