STS Technical Services is hiring a Managing Lead Helicopter A&P Mechanic in Bay City, Texas.

This mission critical aviation role supports a life saving air medical operation where aircraft readiness directly impacts patient care and emergency response. Qualified candidates may be eligible for a sign on bonus of up to $15,000 for a limited time.

Position Overview

The Managing Lead Helicopter A&P Mechanic is responsible for maintaining the airworthiness of assigned helicopters while coordinating maintenance activities across the base. This role supports daily maintenance operations, ensures FAA compliance, and helps maintain operational readiness for emergency air medical missions.

You will serve as a key technical resource responsible for inspections, troubleshooting, documentation, and maintenance planning while supporting fleet readiness across multiple bases when required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review and perform daily maintenance and inspection tasks to ensure continued aircraft airworthiness
  • Troubleshoot and repair helicopter airframe and powerplant systems
  • Communicate aircraft maintenance status and unusual findings to the Lead Mechanic
  • Maintain parts inventory and requisition replacement components as needed
  • Complete aircraft logbook entries and maintenance documentation in accordance with FAA standards
  • Update electronic maintenance systems including work packages, removals, and installations
  • Maintain company tools and ensure calibration schedules are properly followed
  • Support maintenance activities at multiple bases when operational needs require
  • Travel as necessary to support fleet readiness and maintenance coverage
  • Perform additional aircraft maintenance duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings
  • Minimum two years of experience as a certified aircraft mechanic
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Ability to pass a physical exam, drug screening, and background check
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds when required

Preferred Skills

  • Sheet metal repair experience
  • Avionics troubleshooting and repair experience
  • Ability to travel frequently, sometimes on short notice
  • Willingness to work night shifts when maintenance schedules require

Schedule and Location

  • Schedule: 5 days on / 2 days off
  • Base Location: Bay City, Texas
  • Candidates must live within 60 miles or one hour of the assigned base
  • Travel between bases may be required
