BB&E is a full service civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm, headquartered in Northville, Michigan, which services both the Federal and Industrial sectors throughout the United States. BB&E team members provide Environmental Consulting, Facilities Engineering and Program/Project Management Services to Federal and private sectors.
Position Summary
BB&E is seeking an Electrical Engineer to provide technical design support for mission-critical requirements associated with ongoing and future infrastructure and facility projects at USSS-protected sites throughout the continental United States (CONUS). The engineer will provide specialized engineering support services, including technical planning, coordination, and oversight of engineering activities to ensure the seamless integration of protective equipment, materials, and infrastructure into ongoing and future projects. This role will be on-site in Washington, DC.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Evaluate, design, develop, test, and oversee the procurement, manufacturing, installation, and maintenance of electrical components in medium and low voltage electrical systems.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for medium and low voltage electrical systems across mission-critical facilities.
- Identify operational and security gaps in electrical systems that are a risk to mission-critical operations.
- Develop master plans and mitigation strategies to minimize risks and increase resiliency in electrical systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, third-party contractors, and other government agencies to install, repair, commission, and maintain electrical systems.
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes and industry standards through detailed calculations and developing technical specifications.
- Develop maintenance and testing procedures for electrical and electronic components.
Requirements
Key Qualifications
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required; Must possess a valid TOP Secret Security clearance
- Experience in designing or assessing electrical systems for mission-critical facilities, to include battery and generator backup power.
- Experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, power metering, and electrical automation systems.
- Proven expertise with design and calculation software.
- Deep knowledge of electrical engineering codes
Experience & Education
- Experience: A Minimum of 10 years of experience in medium and low voltage electrical distribution, infrastructure management, and power engineering is required
- Education: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is required; (master's degree or Professional Engineer license preferred).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand/walk/climb/kneel/crouch and remain in a stationary position/sit at least 60% of the time
- Ability to operate office equipment, including computer, copy machine, phone, etc.
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms
- Capable of lifting up to 10 lbs.
- Ability to understand the speech of another person, speak clearly so listeners can understand, and talk or hear both in person and by telephone
