Position: Vice President, Resource Development
Reports to: Chief Development Officer (CDO)

Position Overview:
In partnership with the Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer (CDO), the Vice President, Resource Development (VPRD) is responsible for executing on comprehensive fundraising strategies across individuals, corporations, and foundations. They will oversee the planning, development, and implementation of all aspects of UWNYCs fundraising process, including communications to donors and prospects; prospect research; solicitation of foundation, corporate and individual donors; gift planning; donor stewardship; and fundraising accounting within the customer relationship management (CRM) software system. The VPRD is tasked with managing the human and operational infrastructure needed to diversify UWNYCs donor base/pipeline, sustaining and growing our budget by securing funding through corporate partners, major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, affinity groups, and sponsorships.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Fundraising
- Oversee the organizations portfolio of constituents, board members, and external relationships.
- Establish and monitor revenue goals and budgets, in line with organizational and community needs. Collaborate with the Community Impact programmatic team to gauge funding gaps.
- Individually and as a team collective, procure the targeted funding from individuals, foundations, corporations, board members, events, partnerships, crowdfunding and other sources manage the full fundraising cycle, from prospecting to collection.
- Monitor the economic climate and evolving governmental and/or political landscapes.
- Adjust fundraising plans and activities in response to opportunities aligned with UWNYCs mission.
- Instill a dynamic, data-driven mindset within the resource development team and internal programmatic colleagues.
- Drive decisions informed by reliable market-tested data.
Operations and Management
- Recruit, develop, retain and lead an effective, high-capacity resource development department team. Ensure goal attainment and accountability.
- Establish and communicate departmental and organization-wide policies, procedures and expectations related to corporate fundraising programs.
- Oversee effective use of the donor CRM system.
- Serve as its master administrator; assign policies, roles and tasks within the software while ensuring proper internal control and best practices.
Communications
- Collaborate with the marketing & communications team to create development materials, tools, and other necessary collateral supporting major gifts, grants, planned giving, campaigns, events, and other efforts.
- Ensure quality control and consistency over messaging and information exchanges with donors and partners.
- Review and contribute to annual reports, newsletters, and online materials.
- Leverage digital platforms and the use of social media and technology in fundraising.
Candidate Requirements:
- Demonstrated passion for UWNYC's mission and core values, strong commitment to racial equity.
- Bachelor's degree.
- 15+ years of progressively responsible positions in non-profit development and fundraising.
- Deep understanding of fundraising strategies, cycles, tasks and techniques: donor research and prospecting, cultivation, moves management, communication, acquisition, solicitation and generation of sequentially increasing charitable gifts.
- Track record of securing 6- and 7-figure gifts from individuals, foundations, corporations.
- Experience in building, retaining, motivating and managing teams of fundraising specialists.
- Skill and tact in cultivating relationships with board members, major donors, corporate executives, and government and community leaders.
- Quantitative analysis skills: the ability to understand budgets, financial targets, industry metrics and KPIs.
- Event management experience planning, logistics, budgeting, stakeholder engagement and communications.
- Hands-on experience withcloud-based CRM systems(Blackbaud Raisers Edge preferred).
- Excellent written, spoken, analytical, and presentational skills.
- Social-media and technology savvy.

Salary Range:
- The final determination of salary, within this range, will depend on the candidates education, skills and experience required for the particular position.
