Senior Staff Assistant
(Finance)
The College seeks applicants for the position of Senior Staff Assistant supporting Housing and Student Financial Services operations. This position serves as the primary liaison for residential students regarding student account and housing-related financial matters and provides administrative and financial coordination across multiple campus offices. The position supports student success and housing occupancy by assisting students in resolving financial obligations while ensuring accurate financial tracking and reporting. This position is the lead for all student billing appeals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as first point of contact for student billing disputes and coordinate the student financial appeals process, including research, documentation, and communication of outcomes in accordance with College procedures.
- Serve as primary point of contact for housing students and families regarding student account balances, payment plans, financial aid, grants, scholarships, and loan options.
- Provide outreach and individualized assistance to residential students from initial housing deposit through occupancy.
- Monitor housing student registration, residency documentation, financial aid activity, and payment status.
- Meet with students and families to review account charges and identify available funding solutions.
- Track housing-related financial activity and prepare reports and analyses for Housing, Finance, and Student Affairs leadership.
- Prepare room and board financial analyses and monitor payments, scholarships, and payment plans.
- Prepare journal entries and reconcile housing and meal plan funds; assist in ensuring accurate remittance of Housing and Food Service revenues.
- Serve as first point of contact for student billing disputes and coordinate the student financial appeals process, including research, documentation, and communication of outcomes in accordance with College procedures.
- Serve as liaison between Housing, Finance, Student Accounts, Financial Aid, and Student Affairs offices.
- Assist with selected student business and financial aid processing activities, including scholarship tracking and aid troubleshooting.
- Administer and track designated Foundation scholarships and emergency grant programs.
- Process cross-registration and consortium agreements in coordination with campus offices.
- Manage billing activities related to continuing education contracts, rentals, and other non-student charges.
- Act as purchasing contact for assigned cost centers, including requisitions, purchase orders, travel documentation, contracts, and budget transfers.
- Maintain records management responsibilities and track inventory and equipment agreements.
- Develop and participate in student orientations, workshops, and campus events.
- Serve on campus committees supporting student success initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive student and financial information.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
- Additional training and education in the applicable administrative field are desirable.
- Two (2) to three (3) years of experience working in an educational institution or in a related administrative function desired.
- Accounting experience, financial experience, or additional experience with any of the functional responsibilities of the position preferred.
- One (1) year of supervisory experience is required.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.
Additional Information:
The minimum salary for this position is $56,497. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
