JOB SUMMARY


  • Business development, project management and design engineering, including negotiating, estimating, planning, scheduling, and cost engineering of electrical projects.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • Four-year degree in construction management or related field or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years construction project management, estimating, and/or craft supervision experience in similar facility construction.
  • Minimum of five (5) years electrical construction project management.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods); craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations, engineering, estimating, schedules, and safety required.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Previous experience managing fire alarm, voice/data, fiber optic, audio/visual, security, card access and other low voltage projects.
  • Previous design build and project management experience of industrial, commercial, governmental, and institutional projects.
  • Previous experience successfully managing electrical contractor operations.
  • Previous experience in various roles involved in overall construction project (Electrician, Foreman, Estimator, Service Manager, Preconstruction Manager, Project Manager, etc.).
  • The ability to successfully mentor and train Project Admins, Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers and Project Managers.
  • The ability to successfully mentor and guide Foreman/General Foreman.
  • Experience within the Kansas City market is preferred.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Provide initial client contact to assess scope of work and resources required to successfully complete project(s).
  • Prepare complete estimate for selected project with detailed review of proposal specifications, drawings, takeoff information, and contracting.
  • Supervise total construction efforts to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, codes and standards, budget and schedule; includes interfacing with client representatives, other contractors, etc.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise on-site functions (scheduling, engineering, material control, and may provide day-to-day direction of onsite administrative staff in accounting, purchasing, etc.).
  • Investigate any situations with potential project impacts, mitigate wherever possible, and initiate correcting actions as necessary.
  • May direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • Supervise craft employees by working closely with the on-site foreman; may supervise work of other contractors as required by the contract.
  • Establish work plans and staffing for each project phase and arrange for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
  • Provide technical assistance (i.e., interpretations of drawings and recommending construction methods and equipment, etc. as required).
  • Confer with project staff to outline work plan, assign duties, responsibilities, scope of authority, provide technical advice, and resolve problems.
  • Review project proposals and plans to determine timelines, funding limitations, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of projects.
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards for project.
  • Ensure all design activities are completed accurately and on time in accordance with master schedule.
  • May serve as the prime client contact coordinating the resolution of problems, reviewing progress, recommending alternatives, and advising on project objectives.
  • Ensure successful projects and satisfied clients by anticipating client needs, exceeding client expectations while maximizing profitability through effective project leadership.
  • Ensure all company processes and procedures are followed, including company safety initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
