What this job involves - The Facilities Manager will manages comprehensive facility services across assigned properties, ensuring compliance with client standards and regulatory requirements. You will oversee facility management operations within designated buildings and geographic areas, maintaining critical relationships with third-party tenants and property owners. The role encompasses budget preparation and management, ensuring contract compliance, and coordinating facility-wide initiatives. You'll be responsible for driving prompt collection of management fees and reimbursements while resolving high-impact tenant relations issues.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Manage the performance and outcomes of assigned staff reporting to the position
  • Maintain interface with third-party owners (tenants), ensuring total contract (lease) compliance, accurate and timely reporting, and resolve critical impact tenant relations issues
  • Provide overall facility services in accordance with accounts' standard processes and procedures including application of policies and programs, coordination of information

  • Ensure compliance with portfolio wide initiatives and required local, state and federal laws and regulations that pertain to the operating of facilities entrusted to the Facility Partners to manage on behalf of the client as owner

  • Manage, coordinate, and exercise functional responsibility for Facility Management services within assigned facilities and geography

  • Prepare, submit and manage facility budgets with the clients' goals and objectives addressed, track variances and ensure smooth recovery process

  • Support prompt collection of management fees and reimbursements from 3rd party tenants occupying space with the accounts owned premises

  • Responsible for overall team management, staff development and planning. Execute staff succession and growth plans

  • Involved in compensation planning process

  • For every direct report, build actionable and measurable career development plans; direct report in consistent conversations regarding progress

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Facilities Management with management/technical emphasis
  • Minimum 5 years of recent facilities management and supervision experience (within the past 7 years) for buildings totaling approximately 3 million square feet. Real Estate License required
  • Strong leadership and relationship building capabilities, along with excellent interpersonal skills and problem-solving ability
  • Proven track record of delivering exceptional internal and external customer service
  • Knowledge of standard business and accounting practices, plus proficiency in Excel with data analysis capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong presentation abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with energy management systems, sustainability programs, and LEED or other green building certification processes

  • Previous experience in commercial real estate, corporate facilities, or property management with a focus on Class A office buildings

  • Technical background in engineering, construction, or building trades with hands-on knowledge of building systems and maintenance practices

  • Experience managing facilities budgets exceeding $1 million annually and demonstrated success in cost control and vendor management

  • Familiarity with risk management principles and emergency response planning including business continuity and disaster recovery protocols

Location: Chicago, IL

Estimated compensation for this position:

120,000.00 - 132,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
