ARES is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant with a strong background in government contracting to join our accounting team. In this role, you will ensure compliance with federal regulations, manage complex project accounting, and deliver accurate financial reporting in a DCAA-regulated environment using Deltek Costpoint.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Maintain accurate financial records by managing the general ledger, posting journal entries, performing reconciliations, and analyzing credit card activity. Review accounts payable vouchers for compliance and accuracy to ensure timely and precise financial reporting.
  • Compliance & Audit: Ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP, FAR, DCAA, and CAS standards. Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to audit requests, and addressing internal control gaps to mitigate risk.
  • Month-End & Year-End Close: Lead and support timely completion of month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring consistent application of accounting policies and procedures across all functions.
  • Project Accounting: Manage project setups, billing, labor categorization, and revenue recognition within Deltek Costpoint. Utilize Costpoint modules to oversee project accounting and generate accurate financial reports.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process enhancements within the accounting function to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint (Accounting & Projects modules).
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, federal contracting regulations (FAR, DCAA, CAS).
  • Proven experience managing project setups, billing, and revenue recognition in a government contracting environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills and ability to analyze large datasets for discrepancies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
