PeopleTec is seeking a Senior System Engineer - Atlassian Admin to join our team in Huntsville, AL.

In this hands on technical role, you will design, automate, deploy, and maintain mission-critical server infrastructure and DevOps tooling. You'll leverage your deep expertise in Linux, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform & Ansible), and containerization (Docker), and the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo) along with integrated tools like Artifactory and Xray to enable efficient, secure and compliant software delivery in a dynamic, cleared environment. Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

    Lead the design, implementation, optimization and administration of server solutions and DevOps platforms while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams
  • Administer, configure, integrate, maintain, and secure the Atlassian ecosystem (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo), including user management, permissions, workflows, plugins/add-ons, and upgrades.
  • Manage integrate complementary tools such as Artifactory (for artifact/binary repository management) and Xray (for vulnerability scanning and compliance in the software supply chain).
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as Code using Terraform to provision and manage virtual machines in vCenter environments
  • Create and maintain Ansible playbooks for automated configuration and hardening of Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu) and Windows servers
  • Implement and manage containerized workloads using Docker
  • Perform hands-on installation, configuration, patching, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Linux/Windows server OS, hardware, and associated technologies
  • Apply security best practices including STIG compliance, server hardening, vulnerability management, and secure configuration
  • Monitor server and application performance, identify potential issues proactively, and implement improvements for reliability and scalability
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure problems, coordinate changes, and communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • Document systems, processes, configurations, and participate in After Action Reviews to capture and share best practices
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing
  • Support special projects
  • Occasional travel (0-25%)
  • 5+ years of experience administering and engineering Linux environments (RHEL and Ubuntu)
  • Proven experience writing Terraform configurations for virtual machine deployment in vCenter.
  • Demonstrated expertise creating and maintaining Ansible playbooks for multi-OS server configuration and automation.
  • Solid experience with Docker for containerization, application deployment, and management.
  • Experience administering Atlassian product (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo) including configuration, integration, user/group management, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Artifactory for artifact management and Xray for security scanning in DevOps pipelines.
  • Experience with Windows Server administration and PowerShell scripting.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across OS, virtualization, networking, and performance issues.
  • Familiarity with security hardening practices (STIGS, vulnerability scanning)
  • Design and implement new server solutions and/or improve efficiency of current systems in coordination with other members of the team.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • An active DoD TS/SCI clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to get a TS/SCI level of clearance during their employment.
  • Ability and willingness to sit at the customer site

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Associates degree

Desired Skills:

  • Advanced administration experience with the full Atlassian suite (including plugins, application links, workflows, and integrations with CI/CD tools)
  • Hands-on experience integrating Atlassian tools with Artifactory, Xray, or similar artifact/security platforms
  • Experience creating Bash and/or PowerShell scripting for automation.
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools, database services (installation/monitoring), and web services
  • Experience in DoD/government environments and compliance requirements
  • Installing, monitoring, and maintaining database services
  • Installing, monitoring, and maintaining web services
  • Troubleshooting network connectivity issues
  • Monitor server performance to identify potential issues
