Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Director, performs a broad scope of business operations functions encompassing both financial and human resource activities. Provides support on matters of billing, payroll, administrative procedures, budgets, and personnel either through direct action, advice or as liaison with other managers as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manages daily administrative and financial operations for the Department. Provides support on matters of billing, payroll, administrative procedures, budgets, and personnel either through direct action, advice or as liaison with other managers and business analyst as appropriate
  • Develops and administers clinical/administrative budgets, including general, restricted fund and/or foundation budgets. Works with departmental staff to ensure compliance with departmental policies and adherence to budget guidelines. Identifies and utilizes all applicable policies and procedures. Develops and writes new program proposals as necessary in consultation with senior staff. Develops capital budget in consultation with senior staff for submission to appropriate parties.
  • Performs a variety of administrative functions for senior staff, management team and staff. Is an active member of unit based/program leadership team. Acts as a liaison for internal and external staff, departments, professional organizations, and agencies.
  • Works with department administrator and clinician leaders to develop, implement, and evaluate department's programs and services that support department goals and objectives. Participates in business planning, identifying personnel needs and resource requirements. Implements approved plans per identified timetables, expected outcomes and measures.
  • Manages and oversees administration of departmental supply and equipment inventories, including coordination of facility and equipment maintenance and environmental services. Reviews and authorizes purchase of supplies, equipment and services within established budget allocations.
  • Develops and supports systems and processes that measure clinical and administrative productivity, volume, revenue, clinical outcomes, patient and staff satisfaction or other work improvement indicators. Collaborates with other peers, staff, or services to determine best practices, desired outcomes and best method of achieving and reporting outcomes. Analyzes and prepares reports on all measurement and process improvement activities.
  • Acts as administrative liaison between the department and the hospital. Serves on hospital task forces and committees. Works with hospital support departments such as Materials Management, Facilities Planning, Human Resources, ESD and Payroll to ensure good communication and workflow between the department and other departments and services. Provides administrative support to the management team and staff. Frequently utilized as an expert resource/lead for other units/departments.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare administration or closely related field required. Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience required.
  • Previous contracts management experience preferred.
  • Analytical skills necessary to resolve problems requiring a professional level of knowledge in a specific discipline/field and/or improve enhance or upgrade complex clinical, financial, data processing, marketing or human resources systems and programs.
  • Ability to work independently and use skills of judgment and inquiry to consistently support and advance overall programmatic and hospital goals and initiatives.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
