Description

NPI Supply chain management will be your focus as Materials / Planning Intern. You may also be responsible for tracking inventory trends and maintaining consistency in material quality. You may be required to handle inventory for production or inventory of products to be shipped to customers. Material Specialist use software systems to design material and supply movement plans for companies. Predict and track customer product demand and develop productivity improvement proposals.


Aspiring Material Specialists must have excellent communication, organization, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, and familiarity with computer and materials management software, such as SAP Inventory/Warehouse Management, Ariba, and Agile.


The Material Specialist will work to streamline the New Product Introduction for the RMI business unit. This professional will oversee the acquisition, distribution, allocation, delivery, and resource disposal of materials. She/he will keep stakeholders communicated on material status across the BU.

Responsibilities

Plans, schedules and monitors the movement of material through the Engineering cycle. Determines material requirements from engineering and production schedules. Coordinates the efficient movement of materials with purchasing, production and engineering. Responsible for procurement business system data input and integrity; creates and maintains bills of material and parts/commodities numbers in supply chain management or other Enterprise wide systems.



  • Manage the MRP system, Eng. site & Offshore inventory and resources
  • Oversee the acquisition, distribution, allocation, delivery, and resource disposal.
  • Direct availability and allocation of materials, supplies, and finished products.
  • Analyze and coordinate logistical functions related to the organization's assigned product(s).
  • Maintain and develop positive business relationships with a customer's key personnel involved in or directly relevant to a logistics activity.
  • Plan, organize, and execute logistics support activities such as maintenance planning, repair analysis, and test equipment recommendations.
  • Assign locations to build customer samples
  • Follow up with suppliers on orders
  • Procure materials for various locations
  • Follow up on purchase requests with buyers
  • Manage various databases

Required Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or master's degree (Business, Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, or Supply Chain Management)
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.

Desired Experience and Skills

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
