Job Summary

This position is responsible for user systems and network support to faculty, residents, and staff within the Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine. Duties include but are not limited to maintaining/upgrading the department's computer workstations and peripherals, evaluating, acquiring, implementing, and supporting hardware and software. Assist user's ln developing and implementing automated project management workflows. Ensure compliance with UC Davis Cyber Safety requirements. Backup audio/visual support for ongoing departmental educational lectures. This position also provides management of the clinical scheduling, reports, and analysis for faculty, MSP, Resident, and CRNA providers.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position.

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • 2-3 years experience working in an IT setting
  • Demonstrated experience in the various operating systems used in multi-user computing environments in both networked and stand-alone configuration.
  • Demonstrated experience in application software used in office environment including Microsoft Office software. Experience in installing and maintaining local area network (LAN) software and hardware.
  • Experience with Windows server network operating system, including client and user management, security and backup.
  • Experience with A/V classroom technology and video editing.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively apply knowledge to support the information needs of the department.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with TCP/IP networking and Microsoft Active Directory Management
  • Including managing user accounts and groups, maximizing network performance, and resolving configuration problems.
  • Excellent skill in operating, extending and supporting the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic scripting ability including, but not limited to, login scripts, spreadsheet data manipulation, and hardware data collection.
  • Knowledge of and experience in computer system building, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance, both on Windows and Macintosh platforms.
  • Knowledge of and abillty to apply University/Hospital/Departmental policies and procedures.
  • Experience to develop report specifications from customer requirements and develop reports that represent the data.
  • Working knowledge of PC workstation hardware and ethernet cabling.
  • Experience with Oracle and SOL Server databases, Crystal Reports.
  • Knowledge of client/server applications and relational databases.
  • Skills to understand, contribute to, and appropriately utilize evolving reporting database architecture.
  • Knowledge and understanding of data update procedures to analyze and evaluate system design specifications and prototypes and recommend effective data maintenance and update mechanisms and functions.
  • Experience to analyze and synthesize statistical data and create detailed and complicated reports and their respective charts, graphs, and mapping. Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to interact effectively and diplomatic with peer situations, software vendors, students, staff and/or university administrators.
  • Ability to work efficiently in an extremely stressful environment, utilize problem solving skills and effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workloads and function independently.
  • Ability to anticipate and process several deadlines simultaneously and proactively determine and act upon departmental needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MCITP, MCSA, MCTS, MSCA, MCP, Network Certification, etc
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent education or equivalent combination of related education and experience (I.e. MCITP, MCSA, MCTS, MSCA, MCP, Networ1< Certification, etc.)

Work Environment

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.
